Beautiful Butter came to visit the team, after her owners noticed some rather odd behaviour patterns at home.

After an ultrasound and blood testing, it was determined that despite being a desexed four year old, Butter was on heat. This was due to a small piece of remaining ovarian tissue in her abdomen, that was continuing to release hormones as if she were undesexed.

Thankfully, this tissue proved easy enough to locate, and was quickly removed. Butter now returns home to her relieved family in a much calmer state, with all the extra attention and treats that come with a big day at the clinic. šŸ’›

Double trouble! These gorgeous boxer sisters, Frankie and Crumpet, spent the day with Libby and the team for a dental clean, as well as removal of some gingival hyperplasia.

Gingival hyperplasia is a condition in which there is an excess in gum growth, common in breeds like the boxer. Thankfully for these two girls, Libby removed the overgrown tissue and had them looking good as new.

This googly eyed giant is Everest šŸ”ļø, the sweet Burnese Mountain Dog who was in with the team for a TPLO.

TPLO (Tibeal Plateau Levelling Osteotomy) is the gold standard operation, for dogs who have ruptured their Cranial Cruciate Ligaments, know as the ACL in humans.

Thanks to the skilled hands of Dr Eugene Buffa from , Everest is back to feeling brand new, much to relief of his family.

Uh oh! Your pet has a fresh surgical site (think desexing wound or lump removal) which suddenly looks swollen – what could be going on?

Wound puffiness can occur due to:

āš ļø Soft tissue inflammation (more likely with overactivity)
āš ļø The formation of a seroma (fluid swelling)
āš ļø Inflammation from the body reacting excessively to internal stitches
āš ļø Infection (which is more likely if your pet has licked the wound, or the wound was contaminated)
āš ļø Wound breakdown

If you have any concerns about your pet post-operatively, it’s always best to reach out promptly to our caring team.

Please keep an eye out for Yuki this long weekend, who is missing from his home in Seaforth.
