A quick reminder to keep your furry family members safe over the holidays:

🍫 **Chocolate** (especially dark or cooking chocolate) is toxic to pets — it contains both caffeine and theobromine, which can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, restlessness, tremors, seizures and even be life-threatening
🐰 **Hot cross buns** containing sultanas/raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs — there is *no safe amount*
🌸 **Easter lilies** are extremely dangerous for cats — even small exposures like licking pollen off their fur or drinking vase water can lead to kidney failure

🚨 If your pet may have been exposed to any of these, please seek veterinary care immediately.

🎄🐶 Christmas Foods That Are Dangerous for Dogs — Keep Them Safe This Holiday!

The festive season is full of delicious treats… but many classic Christmas foods can be toxic or harmful for dogs.
Here’s what to keep well out of paw’s reach:

🚫 Grapes & Sultanas
Found in fruit mince pies, Christmas cake, and pudding — even tiny amounts can cause kidney failure.

🚫 Chocolate
A favourite for humans, but dangerous for dogs. Dark chocolate is the worst offender.
Symptoms include vomiting, tremors, and heart issues.

🚫 Cooked Bones
Christmas roasts = lots of leftover bones. Cooked bones splinter easily and can cause choking or internal injury.

🚫 Onion, Garlic & Leek
Common in stuffing and gravy — these can damage red blood cells and cause anaemia.

🚫 Alcohol
Even small amounts in spilled drinks or desserts can lead to dangerous drops in blood sugar, body temperature, or coordination.

🚫 Macadamia Nuts
Popular in festive treats such as shortbread biscuits— toxic to dogs and can cause weakness, tremors, and vomiting.

🚫 Xylitol (Artificial Sweetener)
Found in sugar-free lollies, baked goods, and some peanut butters. Can cause life-threatening hypoglycaemia.

🎁 Keep your dog safe by:
✔ Keeping food-laden tables out of reach
✔ Asking guests not to feed scraps
✔ Storing gift bags and food hampers securely
✔ Offering pet-safe festive treats instead

The Christmas season is full of sparkle… and if you live with a cat, you know that means one thing:

But Christmas trees can actually pose several dangers for cats. Here’s what to watch out for:

✨ Tinsel & Ribbons
Cats love to bat and chew at shiny things, but these can cause serious intestinal blockages if swallowed.

✨ Tree Needles
Real or artificial, needles can irritate the mouth and stomach — and even cause vomiting.

✨ Water in the Tree Stand
This water can contain fertilisers, bacteria, or chemicals that are unsafe for pets.

✨ Fragile Ornaments
Glass baubles can easily break and cause cuts or be swallowed.

✨ Electric Lights
Chewing cables = risk of electric shock.

✨ Climbing Hazards
A determined kitty can topple a tree and injure themselves in the process.

How to keep your cat safe:
