An overdue update on the last few weeks with some fab horses & a great team behind us!

Outings at Hunter Vally Jump Club, Tamworth Eventing, and Scone jump club, alongside plenty of hunting has kept us all busy.
Very lucky to get to ride some super horses thanks to McCreery & Scott. Updates in order of photos!

Mayfair - a super step back up to 1* at Tamworth last weekend. A PB 1* dressage of 31 , much improved SJ and another easy clear XC. Feel like there’s a big 1* result in the pipeline for her. She’s also been a great whips horse for me out hunting this season & had a
great training day at Scone jump club on Saturday to try and get us more established at the bigger heights.

5yo Clydie X, Paddington - A great result at her first 80 event at Tamworth, a fantastic dressage of 29, clear SJ, then a super XC, an early green stop, but then flew around the rest, growing in confidence as she went to still finish easily inside the time. A great success for only her 3rd ever event and first 80cm. She also had a great prep the week before, jumping her first 90cm SJ at HVSJC with George, as well as being a regular and reliable hunter hireling for a variety of riders. A bright future ahead for this girl!

5yo JA polo pony, Grantham - stepped up to his first 80cm in style with two clear rounds at HVSJC & is also loving his first season hunting, having been in the field, whipped in, and hunted the hounds so far this season. Proud of how this guy has come on since arriving with us as a 3yo.

4yo Asham Connemaras & Sporthorses Connie X TB, Hastings - the first horse I’ve backed completely myself and it’s been super exciting to get him out to his first training days these last few weeks. Still a lot to learn but has the most amazing attitude to life and is progressing so quickly. Looking forward to seeing where he ends up.

5yo overgrown PB polo pony, Peanut. An interesting project who is not a fan of people on the ground but has been fantastic to produce under saddle. From having his first jump earlier this year, he’s settled into hunting well and has great day at his first jump club at Scone on Saturday. Lots to like and another fun little project!

Shelford - an extra feature for the true hunting legend I’m lucky enough to whip in on most days. An absolute menace at home but no other horse I’d rather whip in on.

Thank you to everyone that help makes this all happen, from Scott and Anna who have supported me from day for over here, everyone that helps out at work to keep the horses running & gives me chance to get them out and about, all the organising committees for the great events, from the big events to the training shows that are so great for getting the young horses going, and finally Diane Smith and Britt Grovenor Photography for the photos.

A little update from Scone Showjumping Club at the weekend.
5yo polo pony, Grantham, loved his second jumping outing to jump clears in both the 60 & 70.
5yo Clydie X, Paddy, also jumped two super clears in the 70 & 80. So happy with how confident she is out SJ now.
Then Mayfair finished the day with a super clear in the 1m, and a couple of poles in the 105 before jumping round again much improved.

Huge thanks to everyone that helped organise a great day, Scott and Anna for letting me jump & take the horses, and Diane Smith for the photos.

A belated update from our first event of the season last weekend at Quirindi CCI.

Super star Mayfair finished on 28.5 to take 2nd in the 95 class. Feeling ready for 1* again after a super confident run to start her season !

Then 5yo Paddy, had a slightly more eventful time at her second ever event, a lack of preparation for her with her only coming back into work last minute after a long summer holiday, but a great educational experience for her. A fair dressage, followed by a long hold XC, some scary cows, and a big water jump (being in the middle of a drought here it probably was quite a strange sight for her), meant it didn’t quite go to plan out on the XC course, but a lot learnt and very happy to finish with a nice easy clear SJ afterwards. A bit more XC training for her before her next event, but definitely showing some talent & a great attitude towards it.

A big thanks to McCreery for letting me ride & take these girls eventing, the Pursehouses for the accommodation for me and the girls, Rorie for the extra pair of hands, and Britt Grovenor photography for the photos of a great weekend.
A few weeks of training and hunting to get us set for the next one now!

Going to do my best to keep this page updated again as I head into my 4th (!!) year in Australia with a some super exciting horses & opportunities.

Whilst my main job is polo grooming & whipping in for the hunt, I’m very lucky to have a little team of jumpers and eventers developing in the background. They have been enjoying a nice summer break while priority was on Ellerston Polo & then the young polo ponies, but it was great to get a few out jumping yesterday for their first outing this year.

First up was 5yo polo pony, Grantham. He’s been with us since a 3yo and has been showing a lot promise to make it as a hunter too. He is an incredibly natural jumper & despite only having jumped rustic fences and hunt jumps at home, loved his first time seeing coloured sticks. Two very confident clear rounds in the 50/60 and 60/70 for him.

Then we moved onto 5yo Clydie X, Paddington. She started her jumping career last year with a couple of shows and was very happy to be back out again for two very confident clear rounds in the 60/70 and 70/80.

Finally we had Mayfair out for her first outing since Ellerston 1* last year. Another confident clear in the 80/90 and just a pole in the 90/100 to get her prepped for the 95 event at Quirindi next weekend.

A big thank you to Hunter Valley Showjumping club for a great training day, Diane Smith for the photos, and Scott and Anna McCreery for the never ending support and the chance to get these horses out jumping !
