Fred - ‘Mr Fahrenheit’
Approximately 16hh, 9 Year Old
TB Blingy Chesnut Gelding with Flaxen Mane and Tail
Stand out from the Crowd with this handsome gelding, he catches eyes everywhere he goes. Fred stands confident and has a real presence about him.
Fred ‘Mr Fahrenheit’ was a successful and loved race horse, but was retired approximately 3 years ago. Since his racing career he has found a real love for being a great allrounder type of horse.
He shows talent and a good work ethic in the arena whilst schooling, whether that is on the ground or ridden. He has established walk, trot and canter whilst working into a soft contact. Fred can be lazy in walk, but we have been working on moving forward and making the most of his body, his trot is smooth, easy to sit to and will power from his hind when asked correctly. Everyone that has ridden him has commented on his ‘rocking horse’ comfortable canter, but he can be slightly unbalanced at times but this improves with every ride and with fitness/muscle development. Fred is happy to complete flat work, but we have noticed that he really enjoys jumping! He has a real presence and ‘look at me’ attitude, and moves to impress when he is pushed to work to the best of his ability. He is suited to being worked 3/4 times a week and enjoys a good variety of disciplines to break this up.
Fred has attended ridden clinics, numerous trail rides, and started jumping including some low level cross country. He has had multiple ladies ride him in the last few months and has impressed them all.
Fred has been on many trail rides in small groups and also larger groups. He can be a strong and confident leader, sit in the middle of the pack and also sit at the back and keep his cool. He likes to chill out on a loose rein and head down taking in the world around him.
As a typical TB when mixed with hot horses, or a lot of high energy he can pick up on this but has never had any nastiness just the usual jig jog and increased energy. He has been exposed to push bikes, motorbikes, dogs, traffic and has tied up places such as pubs and floats and has never been spooky or problematic.
Fred is easy to handle on the ground, he will tie, lead and floats with no issues. He is an easy keeper, and fits in most herd environments as he sits on the middle of the pecking order. He is often the first horse to the gate, and craves human attention.
We see Fred fitting a go getter, confident teenager or adult rider. Someone who wants to do a bit of everything and low level competition - although Fred is calm and willing he is not suited to a beginner and we would like to see him go to someone confident and knowledgeable to continue his ongoing success. Fred is quick to know if you are confident, and will try to get away things if you allow him too- There is absolutely no pigroot, buck, bolt or rear! He deserves a person to fully devote there time to him as he really softens into his people and has a true willingness about him.
Fred is currently in work 3/4 times a week, up to date with farrier (fully shod 6 weekly), dentist, worming etc.
