The secret to success with toddlers in my experience, having taught my own program for the last 20 years is “predictable magic” - I ritualise tiny aspects of the class, this helps toddlers (and all kids in fact) feel safe, calm and included and these tiny things actually become the memories they hold onto the most as they grow. A cute themed term, where students will explore the many aspects of a ‘real ballet class’ , it will be a great way to softly introduce terminology and progressions. This theme is aimed at the 3-5 years age group but will little bits of this theme will be sprinkled into our 1-2yrs class. Students 5yrs and over will continue to work on their class content building strong foundations through repetition and room for fun

I would imagine that a lot of parents sign their children up to a ballet class at 2yrs old for the ‘cute factor’ and perhaps along the way discover that their child displays some enthusiasm and talent for the art and wish to see where it can take them.

In today’s world, I have noticed that true commitment and respect is a fading value, and the old school teacher hat I sometimes wear really wants to encourage a return to this, and ballet is a perfect vehicle.

The cygnet program has been created with this goal in mind, to show aspiring ballerinas what they can achieve, for themselves, with a commitment to self, the class and their teacher.

(And…Neat and tidy uniform, not only looks aesthetic it also kickstarts a positive mindset)
