Tooth extraction is a BIG job! You can see just how much of the tooth is embedded in the jaw of this dog. (The red part). X~rays are taken, flaps need to be made in the gum, bone needs to be removed and the tooth extracted without breaking the root or the jaw, then the gum flaps sutures up to cover the extraction site. Lots of pain relief including nerve blocks are used. This can take up to 40 minutes for a single tooth.

Dr Bec has a soft spot for birds of prey, and will do her utmost to get these guys back to the wild. Today we placed a pin to repair a broken wing on this tiny little bloke. He will go onto a carer for rehabilitation.

We are very excited to introduce the newest member of our vet team – Dr Sarah Wonnacott! 🐾

Sarah graduated from James Cook University last year and is already bringing great energy and enthusiasm to the clinic. She has a strong interest in mixed practice and is looking forward to working with both our small and large animal patients.
