Snake season is upon us and in Port Stephens, it's important to make sure you make your property a little less attractive to our slithering friends.
Keep pests under control and make sure any bird aviaries or chicken coops are hard to access from low down.
Snakes love a nice warm woodpile and garden rock walls with hidden holes to sleep in so be snake aware but remember, theyโre an important part of the local ecology and not all are dangerous.

The numbat is an often-overlooked marsupial native to Australia. Numbats live in Eucalypt woodlands where they forage exclusively for termites and are one of only two strictly diurnal marsupials, which means they are active only during the day.
Sadly, the numbat is on the endangered species list with fewer than 1000 left, so itโs important to have a day like today where we give the little numbat the attention it deserves.
