🐾 ATTENTION 🐾
While services primarily remain limited & 'on-hold' as my main priority is to navigate through my latest presonal circumstances & meet the needs of my little family-I thank you for your continued patience & understanding-I am continuously planning in the background with the aim of once again offer assistance to you & your furbabies. Due to the growing cost of living unfortunately this will ultimately involve changes/increases to service prices & additional travel fees, with all services subjected to availability/my discretion. Regardless I will still aim to offer a pet sitting service with various options flexible & affordable to accommodate any owner/pet's circumstances. To avoid disappointment it will be recommended that any peak season (Easter, xmas-new year) bookings have a minimum of 3 weeks notice & off season a minimum of 1 week notice; with exceptions for emergency situations. As previously done I will schedule in a free* meet-&-greet with all animal clients & their owners prior to potential job dates & will do my best to ease any concerns you may have. Please don't hesitate to inbox me to discuss any information further.

*subject to small travel charge depending on location

For those who don't know me or aren't familiar with my previous services... I am a passionate animal lover with a wide range of experience with a variety of creatures great, small & unusual & am known to have a way with animals. I have worked in zoo/wildlife settings, as well as a veterinary clinic. Along with having owned an array of different creatures myself over the years.

FUTURE services I am aiming to provide at this stage are as follows (all subject to change as I figure out what I can realistically manage alongside full-time motherhood of 2 toddlers):
▪︎pop-in visits which are offered usually once or twice daily & involve basic servicing tasks such as feeds, locking up/letting out, litter & water changes.
▪︎'In-home daycare' is for pets that are recovering from surgery/injury/illness. This service (& the above pop-in visits) takes place in your own home.
▪︎Boarding/daycare at my premises can be arranged for special cases. Certain criteria must be met for your pet to be considered/excepted.
▪︎Home help-this is for those who may need assistance with a particular animal task or those who are sick/injured or elderly. The service will cover tasks (yet not necessarily limited too) such as basic grooming, exercising, basic training support, assistance with any follow up at home medical treatment & socialisation. Depending upon the task you are seeking assistance with & your/pet's needs this may take place in your own home or public place (ie for training, socialisation or exercising).
▪︎Fostering/assistance in rehoming-please message to inquire; explaining your situation & animal/s in question. T&C's apply.** Source number: EE177482
**Please reach out to multiple rescue groups first, I can always help point you in the right direction if need be. I will not be excepting 'accidental' litters (in particular kittens) unless proof of mother's desexing is provided-please look into 'last litter' programs offered by some rescues as first option. Priority will be allocated to those who can't be accepted by a rescue group (ie FIV+), success chances low (eg senior 10yrs+), any non cat-dog surrenders & emergency temporary housing. Completely non-profit service, any adoption fees imposed will be to help cover any vet work required prior to placement with new home.

🔥 HEATWAVE & WILDLIFE 🔥
With extreme heat across our region, our native wildlife is doing it tough. Small actions can make a huge difference 💚

🪣 Put out shallow water
Leave bowls of fresh water in shaded areas. Add rocks or sticks so small animals and birds can safely climb out. Refresh daily.

🌳 Provide shade
If you can, leave dense shrubs, trees, or even place temporary shade (like an box on its side) near water sources.

🚗 Check before you drive
Wildlife may rest under cars or in wheel arches to escape the heat.

🐦 Leave wildlife alone unless injured
If an animal is alert, moving and drinking, give them space. If they’re collapsed, injured, or unresponsive, contact a local wildlife carer or vet immediately.

🐕 Keep pets contained
Especially at dawn and dusk when wildlife is active and more vulnerable.

Every bowl of water, every bit of shade, every mindful moment helps. Thank you for caring for our wildlife during this tough time

📞 If you’re unsure, always call your wildlife rescue for advice.

⚠️ Catastrophic fire danger rating set for tomorrow; Friday (Jan 9th) ⚠️

Please everyone stay safe! Plan, prepare & leave early. Keep cool & well hydrated. Familiarise yourself with signs of heat exhaustion in pets. To help avoid heat stoke you can offer frozen treats, provide access to plenty of shade areas or bring indoors if possible, wet down with cool water &/or provide the likes of a shell pool, cooling mats (from kmart). Do NOT exercise or encourage active play, Ute trays & the ground can cause burns & NEVER leave pets or children in vehicles. If possible leave out various water sources in safe shaded areas for wildlife.

**EXTREME WEATHER WARNING**

This week is set to be HOT!
Forecast is set for over 40 degrees in Bendigo for multiple days.

Please help keep your pets safe with the tips below!

Pets suffer in the heat and can struggle to cool down. For some pets this can be fatal.

Plan a head to keep your pets safe this week.
Have multiple fresh water sources available for pets and wildlife, in different areas around the yard and house in shaded areas, so as the sun moves they can still access cool water.

Freeze treats in water or ice trays and place these treats in a water bowl - this will both keep them busy for a little while and provide a cool treat for them.

If possible have shallow paddle pools available for your pet. This provides somewhere they can try to cool themselves or dampen their coat to reduce their temperature.

Do not walk your pet in the heat of the day!!
Walk either early morning or late afternoon when the temperature drops.
If you can't hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 10 seconds, it is too hot to walk your dogs.

Hot pavement, ute trays and fake turf can all cause serious burns to animals paws.

Animals can suffer from heat stress when left in a car for as little as 6 minutes without air conditioning on a warm summer day. When traveling in warmer weather always consider if your pet needs to go in the car and if so avoid the heat of the day.

Fresh water and shade should always be available for pets.

Signs of heat stress include:
- panting
- collapse
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- going off their food
- pale or very red gum line
- restlessness

Brachycephalic breeds (animals with a short muzzle) such as pugs, pekingese and mastiffs will feel the heat more than other animals, as they can not cool themselves as well by panting.

Hosing your pet down with cool, not cold, water can help to relieve the effects of heat stress.

If you can bring your pet inside with air conditioning on and fresh water sources available, this would be ideal.

If you feel as though your pet is suffering from heat stress please seek medical attention as soon as possible by calling BAH on 03 5443 3322
