Beautiful cats, Merv, Millie, Puss-Pat, Shadow and Meadow arrived yesterday morning. These will be the last photos I post of any of our guests, as I have devastating news. Coen passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon. We are in utter disbelief. Coen built this amazing cattery, along with Ben, and has made it the wonderful cat boarding facility it is today.
No new bookings will be taken for the next 2 weeks, whilst myself and my family grieve in private. All confirmed bookings go ahead, we are fully booked these school holidays and Christmas has been booked out for a while.
Coen was always adventurous. We met whilst both working in the Public Service in Canberra, married, relocated to Darwin before resigning and moving to Tasmania where Coen started abalone diving. We had frequent trips to Three Hummock Island and Hunter Island on Coen's fishing boat and later spent 9 glorious months sailing the Eastern seaboard from Cairns to Tasmania, teaching Ben aged 9 and Jemma aged 4, on our elegant yacht, 'Mahe'. Later we operated an adventure tourism business on the West Coast using quad bikes as well as starting our own aircraft business out of Smithton Aerodrome, calling ourselves 'Skyways'. I was so proud of Coen learning to fly. Before he retired he was a Science and Maths teacher at our local High School, and a Lab Tech.
We all loved Coen; Ben and Jemma, son-in-law James and of course Flynn and Lily loved their Opa. We all will miss him so very much; his kindness, eagerness to help others, generosity of spirit, humour, problem solving skills and sharp analytical mind. He could design and build anything, his creativity was superb. Life will never be the same. Coen was my loving husband, my soulmate and best friend. I feel truly blessed to have shared my life with him. RIP my darling. xx
