🕷️ TICK PARALYSIS WARNING 🕷️
Tick season is all year round in NSW, and with the change in weather comes a serious threat to pets and people: Tick Paralysis.
In coastal and bushy areas across NSW — especially from spring to autumn — the Paralysis Tick (Ixodes holocyclus) is active and dangerous.
💥 What is Tick Paralysis?
A single bite from this native tick can inject a toxin that affects the nervous system, leading to:
• Weakness in legs
• Wobbliness or collapse
• Vomiting, coughing, or difficulty breathing
• Paralysis — and in severe cases, death
🐶 Pets are most at risk — especially dogs and cats who roam in gardens, parks, or bushland.
🧰 PREVENTION TIPS:
✔️ Use tick prevention products
Yearly, 6monthly, 3 monthly or monthly are available.
✔️ Check pets DAILY — especially around the head, neck, ears, and under limbs
✔️ Avoid long grass and bush during peak tick season. Keep lawn maintained.
✔️ Remove any ticks ASAP with fine-point tweezers or a tick remover
✔️ Know the symptoms and seek vet or medical attention immediately
