Monty 19/10/2011 - 17/09/2025 🕊️

Acute Renal Failure.
In this condition, the kidneys don’t clean the blood as they should, leading to a buildup of waste and changes in the body’s fluid and mineral balance. The kidneys can often recover with the right care and support, gradually regaining their ability to keep the body’s internal waters clear and steady again. In very unfortunate cases there isn’t anything that can be done. Sadly this was the case for Monty.

Monty must have been suffering with this for a while. He was so stoic. Always looking so happy and trying his best in every ride to make his people happy.
Every dinner time, every jump, every photo, every memory. He looked calm, relaxed and happy.

I believe horses know when something is wrong. Monty got himself caught in a fence and ripped his rugs, which made us get him out to care for him. In that short time it all started going downhill. We tried everything but not long and he passed in our arms.

It is impossible to count the lives he touched.
Taking people to new heights, teaching young people to ride and to feel confidence and comfort around horses.
For being the best companion and leader for his herd and his people.
And for being Becky’s heart horse, being with her since he was 5 months old. Giving her the most calm, reliable, confidence booster she needed. Being her shoulder to cry on, her being to be there to listen, her absolute everything.

And so, we say goodbye - not only with tears, but with gratitude. For the rides shared. For the lessons learned. For the love given and received without condition.

Forever in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Monty 🕊️💔

Jess, Wilhelm, John, Izzy, Heath and myself along with other members of the 3rd Lighthorse regiment attended the remembrance service in Hobart today.
I was so impressed with the horses, for Beccy and Teddy it was their first remembrance day and they stood beautifully throughout the service and even remained calm for both the Canon firings.
Lest We Forget.

It was a glorious day today for the Huntingfield ODE.

An easy one for Langara Park with just Jessica riding one horse, Beccy in grade 3.
They rode a lovely dressage test scoring 79.69%, went double clear in XC and only one rail (rider error) in SJ to finish 1st.

A big thanks to Izzy (Izzyography) who came along as photographer today.

Thanks to Huntingfield for running a great event.

After a lovely day at Springfield yesterday we headed to Quercus for Midlands ODE today.

Jess competed on Beccy in her first ever cross country competition.
Beccy was an absolute star going double clear in show jumping and cross country to finish on their dressage score of 82.5%.
1st place 🏆. What an amazing combination these two are turning out to be.

Thank you to Midlands Pony Club for running an amazing event.
Thanks to Izzy for stewarding for us.

Yesterday the Langara Park Team headed out for some barrel racing and show jumping fun.
Jessica Norris let Monty show off his quarterhorse moves in the barrel racing and took Beccy for SJ.
Amira-Mew Ryan took Charlie and her dads horse Ghandi out for both barrels and SJ and Amariyah Coleman took Sheldon for barrel racing and Sheldon and Damo for SJ.

A big thanks to the Huntingfield Pony & Riding Club girls for putting on the event. It was a wonderful relaxed day with laughs and smiles all round.

It was lovely to have so many of our horses out today with a full truck load. Everyone looked great and rode beautifully.

Today we started off the new season at day 1 of the Monmouth SJ Series.
We had three riders and four of our ponies out today.
Emma and Pandora competed in 30,40 and 50cm classes. Emma rode beautifully with two confident clear rounds, she placed 2nd in 30cm and fourth in 40cm, unfortunately Pandora had a naughty run out in the 50 resulting in Emma falling off.
Amariyah rode Sheldon in the 40,50 and 60cm classes, this is the highest he has jumped out and about, Sheldon is a pony with a lot of attitude, Amariyah Coleman did a great job getting him around clear and coming home with a 3rd.
Jessica Norris rode Monty and Beccy in the 60,70 and 80cm classes. Monty hasn't competed over 60cm before but certainly showed us that he is more than capable, completing 5 clear rounds inc jump off's and bringing home 2nd in 60cm, 5th in 70cm and 3rd in 80cm. This was Beccy's first comp and she was so chill, we are so impressed with this beautiful girl, She has only been jumping for a few months, yet took it all in her stride and bought home 4th in 60cm, she jumped clear except for a couple of poles in the final jump off.
I'm so proud of all our riders and ponies.

We've been quiet on the posting front the last couple of years, but we've been far from quiet with the horses. Our team have been busy at home and out and about training and competing in a variety of disciplines.
We are super excited to get out there this season and hope to keep you up to date with our adventures.

Jess and Ayla attended the first ODE of the season today, at Huntingfield.

Jess rode France and Dreamy in grade 3 and Ayla Milly in grade 4.
Lovely dressage tests from all, scoring 63%'s. On a challenging XC course, France had just one refusal, on a jump that was pulling up many and was to slow, incurring time penalties, but reliable Dreamy went double clear, Milly jumped clear but was also to slow, getting time penalties. SJ France had one pole on the first jump and Dreamy and Milly both went clear.
Jess and Dreamy finished with a 1st and Ayla and Milly with a 4th.
Super effort from both girls and ponies.
Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Thanks to Jessica's sponsors, Simon Laws farrier services and Lily Ward portraiture.

Great to have our local Huon Show up and running again last weekend.
It was a big day for all the girls, competing in led pony club, pony club rider, pony club hacking, pairs, team of three and show jumping, Jess also decided to add in fashion on the field.
It was a challenging day switching from one discipline to another, especially for Mana in her first agg show, with a last minute change of horse when Flirt went sore, but they all looked amazing, rode beautifully and did us proud.
Thanks to Simon Laws for getting their new shoes on just in time and Thanks to Vanessa for preping, they looked amazing and the judge had a struggle picking between them.
