As you may be able to tell from my erratic posting, social media is not my priority or forte, but it is something I would like to get more consistent with (even if it's just one post a week - or maybe every two weeks) if it can help me help your dog feel better. Because, that's really what I'm about. Helping your dog stay active, happy & strong! So, let's start with an intro post, because it's been a while since I did that.
I'm Nicola, a Canine Myofunctional & Rehab Therapist (I am also a human physiotherapist with 27 years experience) with a clinic based in Railton, in the NW of Tasmania. I also provide virtual consults and email advice to those outside traveling distance to see me.
While I see dogs of all ages, & with a varied spectrum of diagnoses, my specialty areas include:
* Helping your ageing dog stay as mobile as possible for as long as possible.
* Helping your dog recover fully from orthopaedic or spinal surgery.
* Helping dogs with lameness when surgery is not an option.
* Helping dogs whose owners want to try conservative management prior to considering surgery.
My sessions mainly consist of lots of education for you, as your dog's advocate, lots of fun for your dog (believe me when I say your dog will come to love doing their exercises) & lots of treats!
The best part of my job is seeing dogs return to their best quality of life. The hardest ... those times when an owner has to say goodbye to their best mate, when their best mate has come to own a little part of my heart as well. When that happens, I just hope I was able to help ease a little bit of pain for both owner & dog on their journey together.
And while I can't promise I will be more consistent here (although I will definitely try!), please know I am always happy for you to contact me via my website or via private DM.
However, I'm also going to ask you a favour ... to help keep me accountable on here, if there is anything in particular you would like me to answer, create or post about, please let me know in the comments below.
On that note, my 4 cats, 2 dogs & 7 sheep are making me well aware it is the start of feeding time at the zoo ... so I better go before chaos ensues!
