During dry winters, horses need a diet that focuses on maintaining body heat and energy. This can be reached with a good foundation on hay, and supplementary feeds. Keeping your horses warm in the dry winter can always be hard, especially with older horses, here is what we offer to help.
Keeping your houses warm can be done by supplying them with food that will provide them with the energy and fibre they need throughout the dry winters. Having a high fibre diet is essential for maintaining body heat in the winter.
Here is what we have in store:
✅ Mitavite Gumnuts: This an amazing choice of feed for your horse throughout the winter as it has high fibre and moderate energy, this is a particularly good feed for older horses and ponies as it helps them to maintain their body weight
✅ Pryde’s EasiConditioner: This a great feed for weight gain, increased fibre, muscle building, high digestible energy and all ingredients are extruded, meaning a max amount of nutriance can be absorbed by your horse
✅ Hygain Micrbeet: This another excellent option for increasing fibre intake, it helps to increase energy and is great for picky eaters as it can be soaked in water to create a mash
✅ Coprice Cool blend: This is a grain based feed that can be a good choice for your horses this winter, it’s low starch and sugar make for a good option for horses ho react negatively to high starch feeds
Hay is also efficient in maintaining body heat in horses as the fermentation of hay in the hind gut produces heat.
