EMERGENCY WOMBAT RESCUE UNDERWAY
We’ve literally just rescued this beautiful girl. She was tragically hit by a car and found laying flat on the road. Too sad for words.
Her body is badly grazed. She has a head trauma and we’ve just found out upsettingly she has lost her baby.
A very kind passer-by stopped to check on her, she was still alive so he picked her up and took her to local wombat carer Simone who gave her pain relief and got her through the night.
Simone wasn't able to get her in to see a vet locally so Clare and I have set off on a 7 hour drive to get this beautiful girl the help she so desperately needs.
It will be dark by the time we get back, out of hours and on a weekend but our wonderful vet Dr Helene is ready and waiting for us. We are going to do our very best for this poor girl.
She won't settle unless she is in Clare's arms and we are 4 hours away from the vet. Clare and I travel all over South Australia at all times of the day and night, helping anyone we can and as many wombats as possible as they all deserve kindness and care.
This is why we have launched our emergency fundraiser. We have no choice. I hope you understand x

If I'm completely honest with you, our fundraiser was already well short of what we need to continue doing what we do best and this just adds more stress.
The costs from treating this sweetheart alone will run into the thousands and then we will be caring for this wombat for life if we can pull her through.
It is a rescue that was unanticipated, they all are to be honest. As you can imagine, wombats like this precious one require nursing around the clock and ongoing care and love.
We receive no government funding so wombats like this poor girl are completely reliant on both you and I. Without the necessary funding we can’t do what we do best. It’s the truth.
