It’s taken me a week to post about the sad loss of our bossy boy, our smoocher, our dog chaser.
Our WH Wally.
Wally found his way here, as an 8 week old feral kitten, spied amongst the usual visual tapestry one sees, when looking into one’s shed.
Amongst all sorts of goodies, a wee scared face peeked out from behind a push bike. This was at our neighbour’s farm. Linda sent the photo she snapped, with the message “Where’s Wally?”, and we set about trapping him in the humane fox trap.
Didn’t take long to catch this wee boy, and of course we named him Wally!
He very very quickly worked out that hoomans gave lots of food, lactose free milk and cuddles.
A couple of weeks later, a friend up the road, trapped Wally’s brother, who is our dear WH Megsy.
Wally was one of a kind. He loved sitting in laps of his choosing. He loved showing off any deceased rodent kills, and loved to steal toasted cheese sandwiches.
He didn’t particularly enjoy large student group visits, often preferring to take himself off to a secret spot.
Every pre Spring, he and his bro, Megsy, would biff it out for who was going to be head cat for the upcoming warmer weather.
He took a particular dislike to our beautiful shy boy, WH Sylvester, who is now hence adopted out to our divine volunteer, Kellie.
He loved our dearly departed Macca (maremma), Cleo, Indi, Fox and Crezzi, but did not take to our rambunctious Aussie shepherds, Hugo and Netti. These two learnt the wrath of Wally very early on, and Wally seemed to take particular delight in full on roaring after them, with Hugo yelping in terror!
Wally took over dear puss WH Hermoine’s “role”, of comforting those about to pass, as in the photo below, with him on dear mini mare, WH Lara.
Wally journeyed with carcinoma, having one ear surgically removed, then sadly, the cancer developed in his lower eyelid. The vets at Kardinia Veterinary Clinic have been truly amazing, giving Wally support to eke out as much quality time as we could.
He is deeply missed, and has a hold on many hearts, always will.
RIP little warrior. May you have endless sunshine and warm gravel to roll in. 🦋🦋🦋
