Hi everyone!

As you are all aware we are in need of donations to keep this rescue afloat. We have a lot of bills to catch up on and are hoping with your help we can start swimming rather than just treading water.

We are launching our 2 week campaign for Winged Horse Wednesday.
Just a $5 donation makes a HUGE difference.

If even half of our followers donates $5, that would mean $17.5k!!

Can you believe that? That would mean so, so much.

So maybe, if we can encourage you all to skip your coffee on Wednesday June 24th, and donate instead, it would be incredible.

Sorry to the cafes that we all frequent, I’m sure we will make it up to you 😘

I will post our bank details and PayPal link for you.

Please, share far and wide!

WH Neytiri is pleading for help…

Please help us feed and care for our animals. We have just over $500 in the account, with another $1200 feed bill needed in the next two days.

We still owe $3200 to one feed supplier and our very patient vets.

This is a most critical time, we either cover our expenses, or we can’t feed the animals in our care.

We can do this, we just need more regular donors, to keep the charity going.

We are already carrying the care of an extra horse and pony who are not charity animals, and this has added even more strain on the charity.

It’s easy to fix, we need a little help from lots of folks.

$5 or $10 a week could be the difference between us having to shut the charity, and I’m terrified of what that means for those in our care.

Please join in and help, or share this post.

Donate directly into our bank account (all donations of $2 or more are tax deductible)

Weeee, paddock swapsies today, thanks to volunteers Shimona and Kellie- and for the videos!

WH Cebu and WH Rowe get to play in our large “D paddock”, much to their delight!

WH Flynn and WH Mavvy, are now having a nice chilled out tour of what was Rowe & Bu’s paddock.

The sanctuary is set upon 80 acres of what was a racehorse training facility, so it’s lovely to give the horses a change of scenery, rather than stuck in the one paddock all the time.

❄️ Winter Blankets Needed ❄️

As the colder winter season approaches, we’re reminded just how chilly it can be for the animals in our care here at the shelter.

With winter just around the corner, we’re asking our wonderful community to take a moment to look through their cupboards. Any clean, good-condition towels or blankets you no longer need can bring real comfort and warmth to an animal who truly needs it.

If you’re able to help, you can find a full list of items we can accept on our website. Every in-kind donation, no matter how small, helps us make a difficult season a little softer for the animals in our care.

🐾 Did you know that all our dog pens are located outdoors under cover, leaving our dogs exposed to the elements?
If you have any large, thick, warm winter blankets to spare, please drop them off at our shelter 🙏🏼

CAN WE DO IT?

Heartfelt thanks to our recent donors, and to those who have committed to weekly/monthly support.

For us to be sustainable (pay our bills), we need to fill the blanks in the sponsorship table below. I know we can do it! Each blank space is where $5 a week is filled in. For example, JCz donates $10 per week, so fills two spots on the form. If we fill the form, that's $1500 per week, which is the minimum needed to keep the charity going.

The yellow spots indicate where part of the $5 is filled.

Please help us. Less than a coffee a week, fills a blank, and helps us fill in the mosaic that is our charity's lifeblood.

Best way to set it up, is through out bank account (no fees deducted before it gets to us), using your name as reference. Don't forget to email us at [email protected] if you need a tax receipt. All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, and we are a registered charity, with DGR status.

With EOFY nearly upon us, please support our animals in care, share our post, and if you think of any businesses who would pride themselves on sponsoring us, we have plenty of spaces to display signage, as well as spruking them on our socials.

I know we've got this; we will update the "fill in the blanks" challenge as we go. can we fill it this week?

Love Carolyn and all the team! ###

Meet our long term lady, WH Scarlett, who is one of our high needs ladies. Scarlett unfortunately founders if she has access to grass, and one yard escape, plummets her into a very painful laminitic episode.

We don't love the grazing muzzle, but it helps prevent her guzzling tempting grass, when out on her walks. She is such a sweetie, and is one of so many animals at our sanctuary, who rely on us for their care.

We are calling out for regular donors, to secure our ongoing needs, as we currently are unable to order hard feed for next week.

Current outstanding bills include around $1800 for vet, $1450 for a feed order from January, and our usual feed order of around $1200, to get us through. We also have insurances coming up, that allow us to function as a volunteer based centre, as well as public liability and market stall insurances.

If you can help us, please commit to $10 a week or more. It's our regular donors who keep the momentum going, and we are still finding it nearly impossible to keep going, after the website hacking incident, and the resultant large loss in regular donors.

If we have 100 people commit to $10 a week, that almost covers all of our costs. 150 people, and we are pretty much fully covered!

Be one of our lifesavers, and set up a donation into our bank account, with your name as a reference. Please email us a t [email protected] for a tax receipt.

It’s taken me a week to post about the sad loss of our bossy boy, our smoocher, our dog chaser.

Our WH Wally.

Wally found his way here, as an 8 week old feral kitten, spied amongst the usual visual tapestry one sees, when looking into one’s shed.

Amongst all sorts of goodies, a wee scared face peeked out from behind a push bike. This was at our neighbour’s farm. Linda sent the photo she snapped, with the message “Where’s Wally?”, and we set about trapping him in the humane fox trap.

Didn’t take long to catch this wee boy, and of course we named him Wally!

He very very quickly worked out that hoomans gave lots of food, lactose free milk and cuddles.

A couple of weeks later, a friend up the road, trapped Wally’s brother, who is our dear WH Megsy.

Wally was one of a kind. He loved sitting in laps of his choosing. He loved showing off any deceased rodent kills, and loved to steal toasted cheese sandwiches.

He didn’t particularly enjoy large student group visits, often preferring to take himself off to a secret spot.

Every pre Spring, he and his bro, Megsy, would biff it out for who was going to be head cat for the upcoming warmer weather.

He took a particular dislike to our beautiful shy boy, WH Sylvester, who is now hence adopted out to our divine volunteer, Kellie.

He loved our dearly departed Macca (maremma), Cleo, Indi, Fox and Crezzi, but did not take to our rambunctious Aussie shepherds, Hugo and Netti. These two learnt the wrath of Wally very early on, and Wally seemed to take particular delight in full on roaring after them, with Hugo yelping in terror!

Wally took over dear puss WH Hermoine’s “role”, of comforting those about to pass, as in the photo below, with him on dear mini mare, WH Lara.

Wally journeyed with carcinoma, having one ear surgically removed, then sadly, the cancer developed in his lower eyelid. The vets at Kardinia Veterinary Clinic have been truly amazing, giving Wally support to eke out as much quality time as we could.

He is deeply missed, and has a hold on many hearts, always will.

RIP little warrior. May you have endless sunshine and warm gravel to roll in. 🦋🦋🦋

*** Late update and incredible thanks to everyone, we’ll thank everyone individually tomorrow!

We now have enough to cover the trims tomorrow, and a little more, that we’ll put towards the $1800 vet bill.

If you can help, we’re on the way to paying our bills!***

Urgent callout for funds for tomorrow’s feet trims; we have 8-10 horses and ponies lined up for the wonderful Jennifer Lambert, who trimmed 8 sets of tootsies last week.

Jenn even charmed WH Rowe, who has been extremely unimpressed at trims!

We need $650 for tomorrow to go ahead, and are playing catch up, as we’ve been without a trimmer for some time.

If you can help, please donate via our PayPal link;

Update on how we are tracking.

*** Massive callout for donations to help us travel over this bumpy road ***

Please consider becoming a regular donor, as we are still catching up on the loss, as a result of our website hacking incident.

We have $1809 outstanding at our equine vet, and no capacity to pay. Also owe $1450.05 for a January feed delivery.

Not counting the $3500 bill for WH Keanu’s eye treatment, as our family does the best to cover his costs, as Jadae previously used to ride him regularly.

Out hired toilet owes $792 for hire and monthly clean outs. This is a vital service for our 35+ volunteers to have access to, and the use of.

Our lovely hay chap, Tim, is going to collect 20 hay rounds, in lieu of the $1800 we owe him.

There’s the ongoing feed ($1200 minimum each delivery), maintenance, fuel, insurances, loo
Hire, power costs, which average to $1500 a week to run the sanctuary.

We’ve also had all 6 sanctuary cats unwell, and WH Mishka (below) back at the vets this morning, as she’s not eating, and gags if she attempts to eat.

Calling out for $7000 to ride us through this period.

Please share, and note that regular donations - a little from lots of supporters, is what helps the sanctuary keep running.

As it’s our celebration week of 13 years as a charity, we’ll post a few old photos, for memory’s sake.

This one is of dear Tameka, cuddling dear WH Jeremy, who went on to grow into quite an enormous boy, alongside his bro, WH Eddie.

We are so grateful to everyone who responded to our call out for funds; we received enough help to not only pay for our electricity, but also for 8 feet trims, and a very needed $1800 feed order.

We are calling out for more support, to help us pay our hay man ($1800), and also for our Barwon Equine Hospital vet bill, which is also sitting at $1800.

Please sign up to a regular donation, no matter how “small” (no such thing, it all adds up 🤗), using our PayPal link below:
