With the scheduled fire works at 9:30pm tonight please keep your fury family members in mind as you head off to watch the fire works. It’s a good idea to keep them secured.

Does your dog get a little anxious when it gets groomed? There is a couple of things that could help them with this. Taking them for their morning walk, letting them do their morning buisness & giving them breakfast if that’s a daily routine. I also have a few fur babies that bring in their favourite teddy or blanket. You might be rather surprised how well this can help with an anxious dog. Failing that you can always have a chat to your vet.

After Hours Service Update For All Our Valued Clients 📞

Due to a current shortage of available vets to service our after hours calls we have needed to make some adjustments to our systems to ensure our vets have some down time.

We have partnered with VetCheck 24/7 to assist in delivering our ongoing after hours and emergency care.

We are changing the way that we deliver after hours and emergency veterinary advice to all our pet patients. When you call our after hours number, you’ll speak to a VetCheck Vet Nurse who will triage your pets problem.

The VetCheck Vet Nurse will give you the advice and peace of mind that you need. They’ll let you know if you need to attend our recommended emergency practice, or if it can wait until we are open for an in-clinic appointment. You may not need an in-clinic appointment at all. The Vet Nurse may recommend speaking to a highly qualified VetCheck Vet via a video consultation straight away.
All the details about the call and the online appointment will be sent back to us so we can continue your pets care.
We hope you will find this service useful and that it helps take the worry out of caring for your pet when our clinic is closed. Don’t ask Dr Google, ask one of the highly qualified VetCheck 24/7 Vets and Vet Nurses and get the right advice.

If you have any questions about this service please don't hesitate to contact us and we can talk you through the process 🥰

‼️PARVOVIRUS UPDATE 🐶🐕

We would like to make everyone aware that we have seen several cases of parvo virus recently and heard of quite a few more suspected cases in the community.

We are urging all clients to be mindful of high dog traffic areas and the vaccination status of your furry mate.

The clinical signs and symptoms of parvo include:
• Sudden lethargy and not wanting to eat and /or drink.
•Weight loss
•Dehydration
•Vomiting
•Diarrhoea (often with blood in it, particularly as the disease progresses).

If left untreated parvo will more than likely be fatal.

Treatment of the disease involves highly intensive care in isolation. There is no "cure". Treatment consists of hospitalisation for usually up to two weeks, intravenous fluid therapy, high doses of antibiotics and anti nausea medication to support the dog while the virus runs its course. It is also very labour intensive with staff needing to monitor and treat several times daily, each time requiring the wearing of disposable protective clothing and the use of expensive viricidal disinfectants. Not to mention the pain and discomfort of the dog 😷😢
The cost for this kind of treatment will generally be a minimum of $2000! Quite often more.

So really, when it comes to deciding whether or not to vaccinate your dog, it's fairly clear that the best option for your pet and your pocket is to vaccinate!
BE AWARE.....Your dog DOES NOT need to have contact with other dogs to contract this DEADLY VIRUS!! The virus itself is shed in the faeces of infected dogs and can be carried home on your shoes or your car tyres. It is extremely resistant and can live in the environment for up to 12 months.

PLEASE PLEASE VACCINATE to protect your best mate and help reduce the spread of this horrible disease!
A vaccination with us also includes a full health check of your best mate 😀🐶🐕
It is highly recommended that any puppy should not be walked until 2 weeks after their last vaccination - and the same for any adult dog who may be overdue (no walks until 2 weeks after vaccination booster).
If you have any questions please contact us and we'll be happy to help!! ❤️

The last 20 days have been hard work being a mischievous elf, Buddy was in need of a cat nap.
I think no one told Buddy that this was a puppy, not a cat 🐈 😂😱
