Did you know that when you book your dog in for grooming you can have them vaccinated to? Just ask the girls when you book them in for their groom & they will lock out some time for a vet to check them aver and vaccinate them.

EDIT: Our clinic is SAFE to visit.
The affected puppy is being cared for in a dedicated quarantine/isolation area, with strict infection-control protocols in place.

⚠️ Parvovirus Alert - Port Lincoln ⚠️

Please be aware we currently have a confirmed positive case of parvovirus in our clinic.

The dog has been around Port Lincoln while infectious over the past few days, including:
• London Street Park
• The Oil Jetty
• Shelly’s Beach
• Train Playground (off New West Road)

Parvovirus is highly contagious and potentially fatal, especially for puppies and unvaccinated dogs.
Please ensure your dog is up to date with its parvovirus vaccination and take extra precautions when visiting public areas.

If your dog develops vomiting, diarrhoea (especially bloody), lethargy, or loss of appetite, seek veterinary attention immediately.

🔥 HEATWAVE WARNING – TOMORROW 🔥

Extreme heat is forecast. Please take extra care with your animals:

• Keep pets indoors where possible
• Ensure constant access to fresh, cool water (multiple bowls if needed)
• Avoid walking dogs on hot ground — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
• Never leave animals in cars, even for a short time

🐰 Rabbits & chooks are especially heat-sensitive:
• Provide shade and good airflow
• Use misting or a sprinkler on the ground for chickens (avoid soaking)
• Frozen water bottles, ice bricks, or chilled tiles can help animals cool themselves

⚠️ Signs of heat stress include excessive panting, lethargy, drooling, collapse or weakness.
If you’re concerned your pet may be overheating, please contact the clinic promptly. 🐾

🐾 Puppy Pre-School – Starting Next Week! 🐶✨

We’re excited to announce that our next Puppy Pre-School program at Vets on Eyre is starting Wednesday 3rd December!

Classes run on Wednesday evenings at 6pm and go for approximately 1 hour.
The full 5-week program is $140.

We will complete three classes before Christmas (3rd, 10th, 17th), then pause for the Christmas break and resume early January to finish the remaining sessions.

Puppy Pre-School is a great way to set your puppy up for success with:
• Early socialisation
• Basic training foundations
• Confidence building
• Support from our experienced team

There are only two places left, so please contact the clinic ASAP if you’d like to book your pup in!

If you like me and have Christmas stockings for your dogs here’s a great sticking filler for them.
We also stock a range for the sensitive skin dogs or for people who like less fragrant shampoo and conditioners.

At Vets on Eyre we have a small but what I feel is a great selection of brushes and combs that work perfectly on just about all dog breeds. These are ones that I choose to use myself on your dogs when they come in for their Spa Days. Poodle feet! While they may not be that appealing to many they are very practical especially at this time of year with all the grass seeds we have around at the moment. Grass seeds love hiding between toes and causing abscesses. Most dogs get really ticklish but I do my best. This puppy today was perfect to do as he has his feet looked at daily for seeds. Making my life heaps easier 🥰
