She had her clipboard balanced on the hay ring, drawing quietly while Harry and Brave munched away beside her. Just the scratch of her pen and the steady sound of two horses enjoying their hay.

Months later, she still talks about this session.

There was something about Harry standing nearby, watching her work, and Brave staying close that made the experience feel important. Not because anyone told her she was doing a good job, but because she felt it for herself.

Many of the people who come to us spend a lot of their lives being directed, corrected, encouraged, or managed. In this moment, none of that was needed.

For nearly an hour, she had the space to create, think, and simply be, with two horses quietly sharing the experience alongside her.

If you're looking for support that meets you, or someone you care about, where they are right now, we'd love to have a conversation.

We work with children and adults across a wide range of needs, and no diagnosis is required to get started.

One thing we consistently observe in equine-assisted sessions is how quickly horses pick up on human behaviour, energy, boundaries, and emotional state. 🐴

That feedback is immediate, honest, and difficult to ignore.

For many participants, this creates a highly engaging environment to develop skills such as emotional awareness, communication, confidence, patience, and self-control, without those skills feeling forced or overly clinical.

These moments may look simple from the outside, but they involve constant learning, problem-solving, and interaction in real time. That’s part of what makes equine-assisted learning such a powerful experience for many children, teens, and adults.

Not every person thrives sitting across from someone in a room being asked, “So… how are you feeling?”

Some people communicate better through movement. Through doing. Through connection without pressure. 🐴

Parents often tell us they see confidence, calmness, focus, or communication come out in sessions in ways they haven’t seen elsewhere.

For adults, it can be one of the few environments where they feel present instead of overwhelmed.

Sometimes the right support starts with finding the right environment first. 🌿

One of the beautiful things about our 1:1 equine assisted learning sessions is that the connection often starts in the smallest moments. 🤠🐴

This week, one of our young participants was absolutely chuffed to give China her brand new cowboy hat, and safe to say, she wore it proudly.

China is one of the elderly members of our herd, and while she may be little, she has a very special way of helping people slow down, regulate, connect, and feel safe. For many participants, building trust and connection with the horses becomes a gentle pathway into building confidence within themselves too.

Our individual sessions are tailored to the person in front of us and can support:
🌿 emotional regulation
🌿 confidence and communication skills
🌿 nervous system calming and grounding
🌿 sensory engagement and outdoor learning
🌿 social connection and routine building

Sessions are suitable for children, teenagers, adults, homeschool families, and individuals living with disability or additional support needs. Some participants come to work on goals, while others simply need a space to breathe, reset, and reconnect away from the stress and noise of everyday life.

We currently have Monday and Wednesday daytime availability for new participants.

There’s something pretty special about watching a tiny pony in a cowboy hat help someone feel proud of themselves. 🤎

Our school holiday Rodeo Days are designed to offer more than just entertainment for children. At Two Seasons Equine Assisted Learning, these events are carefully planned to create opportunities for confidence building, social connection, creativity, emotional regulation, and outdoor play through meaningful interactions with horses. 🤠🐴

Through activities like western themed pony rides, hobby horse barrel racing, painting stations, and team based challenges, children are naturally encouraged to practise communication, problem solving, patience, coordination, and teamwork in a relaxed and supportive environment.

We intentionally keep our groups small, not only to support the wellbeing of our horses, but to ensure each child feels safe, included, and able to participate at their own pace. For many children, these experiences provide a chance to step away from screens, build new friendships, gain confidence trying new activities, and spend quality time outdoors connecting with animals and nature. 🌿

Every school holidays, our Rodeo Days completely sell out, and we are so grateful for the ongoing support from families who continue to return to the farm each season.

Watching the paddock fill with cowboy hats, laughter, and proud little smiles never gets old. 🌵✨

Keep an eye on our page for the next school holiday event announcement.

Beyond our equine assisted learning sessions, we also love hosting small group event days designed to give children the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors, connect with animals, build confidence, and simply enjoy being kids in a calm and supportive environment. 🐴

These photos were taken during our Pony Pamper Day over the April school holidays, a three-hour event carefully designed to balance fun, creativity, animal interaction, and horse wellbeing.

Throughout the morning, the children spent time grooming and washing our gentle ponies, braiding and decorating manes and tails with bows, participating in simple arts and crafts activities, and enjoying plenty of pony cuddles and sensory-friendly interactions. We finished the morning together with a sausage sizzle and lots of very happy, tired kids.

One of the most important parts of our event days is keeping groups intentionally small. This allows us to create a calmer experience for both the children and the horses, while also ensuring safety, meaningful interaction, and the ability for each child to have genuine hands-on involvement throughout the session.

Thank you to all the families who joined us these school holidays. It was lovely watching the friendships, confidence and connection grow throughout the morning, both between the children and with our beautiful ponies. 🤎

Our founder Sharon wanted to share a recent experience that pushed both her and Ranger completely outside of their comfort zones. 🐴

Over the weekend, Sharon attended an Indian Ocean Reining & Western Performance Club Inc event.

Coming from a traditional English and showjumping background, reining was an entirely new discipline for her.

“A few weeks ago, I honestly had little idea about this discipline, but have loved watching” Sharon said.

What made the experience even more meaningful was that Ranger was also new to reining, so both horse and rider were learning together throughout the day.

“It was a really good reminder that horsemanship is never about knowing everything. It’s about being willing to keep learning, trying new things, and trusting the bond and connection you are making with your horse through the process.”

For Sharon, though, the biggest achievement was stepping into something unfamiliar and allowing herself to be a beginner again.

At Two Seasons Equine, we often talk about growth happening outside of comfort zones, and this was a beautiful reminder that the learning never stops, no matter how much experience you have. 🤎

Sometimes the biggest sign that a child feels safe and regulated… is that they can completely relax.🌾🐴

During sessions, we often see children move from heightened energy or overwhelm into a much calmer, grounded state through connection with the horses, sensory engagement, and time in nature.

Equine Assisted Learning can support emotional regulation, confidence, body awareness, and feelings of safety, particularly for children who may struggle in more traditional environments.

And in this case… that regulation ended in a very cosy hay-bale nap amongst the horses. 🌿

We’ve opened up new Monday and Wednesday sessions with Ashley!

Ashley brings over 40 years of experience with horses, and more than 20 years supporting children and individuals across schools and community settings.

Her work supports people who are navigating things like emotional overwhelm, trauma, mental health challenges, cognitive changes, or simply finding it hard to feel settled and confident in themselves.

Horses have a unique way of helping people slow down, regulate, and reconnect. Ashley works alongside them to create a space where people can build confidence, feel safe, and develop meaningful connection at their own pace.

These sessions aren’t just for children.
We’re also welcoming adults who may benefit from a calm, supported daytime environment, including those living with disability or psychosocial challenges.

If you’ve been looking for something that feels different to traditional supports, this may be a good fit.

Bookings are available online.
When booking, select Mrs Ashley Popham as your practitioner. 🐴

Recent reporting from the Kimberley highlights a growing demand for horse-based programs, particularly in regional areas where access to alternative, outdoor learning environments can be limited.

An ABC article shares how local providers are expanding to meet this need, with more children and young people engaging in structured sessions that take place outside traditional settings.

What’s often grouped together in media coverage is a mix of different approaches.

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is one of these, but it has a specific role.

EAL is a structured, facilitated learning approach. Sessions are typically ground-based and focus on practising skills through interaction with the horse; not talking about problems or delivering therapy.

Participants might notice:

• How their movement or pace affects the horse
• What happens when they pause or change their breathing
• How clear or unclear cues influence the interaction

This creates a practical learning environment where feedback is immediate and observable.

As interest continues to grow, clear language matters.

Not all horse-based programs are the same, and understanding the difference helps families, schools, and referrers choose what fits best.

At Two Seasons, sessions are designed as calm, guided learning experiences shaped around the participant, with no requirement for diagnosis or prior experience with horses.

If this feels like a good fit, session information and bookings are available at:
