Won another First at the Rosewood Show , still waiting for my missing honey jars to make their way home but we’ll chase that up later. New Observation hive finished up. My students will be learning about bees again this year so I’ll be able to bring in a queen to show them off and use it to show honey frames. Maybe I need to put an AirTag in the base hahaha.

This is the Varroa heat map of where it is. Literally on my door step :(.
I tested my hives today and they are still negative thankfully, but I imagine I will have Varroa at Christmas time. Good job NSW and all the stubborn morons who spoiled it now for everyone else. Idiots. Just dumb…. Urghhh….

Went through this today. Bit doom and gloom. Lots of things to think about if I’ll keep going with my bees. Very sad but this is now the new normal and we shall see how we go.

The process of making frames with wax sheets/foundation.
Frames come in packs (I got 20). They need to be assembled and nailed together. I choose to wire my frames to make it easier to hold the wax in place during extracting and for the bees to make foundation around the sheets.
I make my own wax sheets out of the excess wax the bees produce! But they can be a bit dodge.
Attaching the wax sheet to the wire completes the process and I have frames ready for the bees to fully draw out and fill with honey!
