We assist with veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, fostering and re-homing of animals that just want to be loved. Our not-for-profit organisation was formed in June 2018, and within six months was honoured with the RSPCA Humane Award – a huge deal for newcomers such as ourselves. This encouragement has galvanised our passion and commitment and we became a registered not for profit February 2019.

Driven by a shared desire to make a positive impact, our team's mission is to make a difference in the lives of surrendered and stray animals. Each member of Don't Go Astray comes from the veterinary and animal rescue industry, pooling a broad range of complementary skills. Together, our aim is not just to care for animals, but to provide assistance for people unable to meet the financial cost of emergency veterinary care.

Meet Carla, a delightful and easygoing lady who has spent her life (she's 11 years old!) as a cherished companion to an elderly woman, unfortunately Nana has moved to a home and Carla now needs a new place for her twilight years. It's been a bit of a shock and Carla is a bit nervous and misses Nana.

Carla is a devoted cat who loves her meals and can be easily medicated when necessary. She's the ideal pet for anyone who appreciates a mellow companion to curl up on the couch with. Her laid-back attitude and desire to be comfy make her a great choice for someone who enjoys a calm and cozy household.

Completely unbothered by the presence of dogs and content living with other cats, Carla fits well in a multi-pet household. Whether she's joining you for a quiet evening in or simply lounging around, her calm demeanor creates a harmonious environment. She is ready to bring her gentle presence and seasoned wisdom into a new family.

CASH is now 10 weeks old and his fam sent us a heap of updates!

"Cash has taken to us like a storm, definitely a sassy boy who loves adventure and keeps us on our toes, even keeps Lycka (his doggy sister) on her toes 😆. They play fight and riot but still cuddle by the end of the match🥰. He's personality has grown. He is full on at 100% when he’s awake, but then sleeping like an old man 😂🫣.
He so far knows commands like sit, go toilet, in the crate or bed. He is a very clever boy!! Cash will be at puppy school next month which will be very exciting🐶. We’re very happy we chose to rescue this time and helping someone in need of a new home. And you guys (DGA) have also been a big support during this whole time, we have never heard of that much effort and care before!! ☺️🙏🏼" Cash's forever family.

"Bean is now named Jax and is loving his forever home! He has 2 other doggos who he follows around and annoys like no tomorrow.
He is soo full of energy and when he gets the zoomies you better get out of the way… Little man loves routine and goes on a lil bush walk adventure every morning and god forbid your even 5 minutes late with his meal time otherwise he’ll start woofing! He definitely keeps us on our toes as he loves to eat absolutely everything… especially shoes and mulch 🤦‍♀️ he has very good patience and is starting to learn some simple commands but we definitely still need to work on our listening ears 🫣🤣".
