GOOD DOG - Behavioural Training

GOOD DOG - Behavioural Training The fundamentals of our training are based on building a coherent relationship with your dog.

We are so passionate about this training @ GOOD DOG because of the freedom it gave Zak ❤️

There was a time when he would have been far too reactive and unmanageable on a busy path like this. He would have tried to bite everyone going past.

He’s living proof that with consistent training and clear leadership, you really can rebuild trust and confidence.

Zak has learned that he doesn’t have to face the world alone. He trusts us to guide him through situations that once felt impossible, and because of that, we all get to relax and share moments like this together.

If you’re on a similar journey with your own dog, don’t give up. Progress is possible—and every small win is worth celebrating. ❤️🐾

Perth winters really are something else. 🌅🐾

Blue skies, crisp air, quiet beaches, happy dogs… we can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

The dogs certainly approved. ❤️

How lucky are we to call this place home?

Just a walk, a river, a few muddy paws, and plenty of opportunities to practise the things that really matter.

🐾 Choosing to check in.
🐾 Exploring a new environment together.
🐾 Settling and simply watching the world go by.

These everyday moments are where relationships are built—and where reliable dogs are made.

And honestly… they’re our favourite kind of training days. ❤️

Where did you and your dog adventure this weekend? Drop a photo in the comments—we’d love to see where your four-legged mate took you! 🏆🐾

A little more from Kaz and Team Alphie, kicking goals with impulse control at our Sunday group classes in Bassendean! 🏆🐾

Every week we get to watch handlers and dogs grow together, and we genuinely love seeing everyone get involved, ask questions, support each other, and put in the work.

Progress isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, practising the little things, and building skills that last in the real world.

Awesome work, Team Alphie! 🔥

Dogs don’t learn impulse control by being overwhelmed. They learn by practicing success 🐾

Too hard, too soon = frustration.
Small wins, repeated often = progress. 💪

A great question we chatted out on our Sunday group training, check out the video ▶️

One of the skills we focused on in Sunday’s Group Class was the Mat Command 🐾

It's one of the most practical and portable skills you can teach your dog.

A solid mat command gives your dog a clear job and place to settle, whether you’re:
☕ Enjoying a coffee at a cafe
🏡 Greeting guests at home
🍽️ Having dinner with friends
🎉 Attending family gatherings
🐕 Creating calm time around the house
🚗 Taking your dog on adventures

Rather than constantly managing your dog, the mat becomes a familiar cue that helps them switch off, relax, and make good decisions in different environments.

A huge well done to all of our teams who put in the work this weekend. We love seeing the consistency, patience, and commitment you bring to your training each week. 🔥

Keep practicing those everyday moments—they’re the ones that create the biggest changes.

These two aren’t just waiting at a doorway… they’re practicing a skill that pays off everywhere else in life.

Boundaries aren’t only about safety or stopping dogs from rushing out the front door. They’re daily opportunities for our dogs to practice:
✔️ Choice making
✔️ Impulse control
✔️ Patience
✔️ Listening when something exciting is happening

Every time your dog chooses to hold position instead of charging through a doorway (into the kitchen/out of the car etc) they’re rehearsing the same skills that help them stay calmer around visitors, distractions, other dogs, wildlife, food on the ground… and life in general.

The best part? It doesn’t require extra training time. These little moments already happen every day. WE JUST NEED TO USE THEM 💪🏼.

Small boundaries. Big lessons.

Way to go team! 🔥🔥

Our dogs don’t care how busy your day has been.

They just want a little time, a little leadership, and a little connection. 🐾❤️

And honestly, that’s where the magic happens.

Keep going all teams!
