🌈🐾 BILLIE 🐾🌈
14.10.2019-31.03.2025
In December we noticed a lump growing very quickly on Billie’s tail. On examination it was advised to remove it but because of the size and location, the only way was by amputation. So, Billie went in for surgery. Her recovery was uneventful and healing nicely, she had her sutures removed and that was that. But on 2nd January she stopped eating. She’s never been a fussy dog so we took her for a checkup when the vet reopened and there was no real obvious reason why, so we ran some bloods and booked a specialist abdominal ultrasound. Cancer! But we all had that sinking feeling when we first laid eyes on that lump. We were just hoping we got it in time. The vet did not give her long, maybe 4 weeks at best, but she had determination and was otherwise back to her normal self, although had lost a large amount of weight by now. She would be bossy with the pugs (except opal, she would alwats yeald to opal), would lay in her hidden spot in the garden by the fence and watch for anyone suspicious, would bark and run to the fence to let us know the neighbourhood kids were here for a play, and she loved getting pats from them all. Rolling around on the grass, dipping her feet in the paddling pool and lazing on the couch on those hot days. Until the last week, where she was so tired. She didnt want to be around the others and had no interest in greeting anyone anymore. She was struggling to get around. The time had come to help her cross rainbow bridge and she was ready. You could see she was ready and she passed peacefully away at home with us, on the lawn under the lemon tree with the help of Dr Judi. We miss you big girl 💔 the house is not the same without you 😢
