This is Ziggy a gorgeous 2 year chocolate Labrador who loves to eat things she shouldn’t (like all Labs!) 🐾 She visited us this week after swallowing something naughty at the beach while her owners to weren’t looking. In case it was poisonous, we induced emesis but luckily all we found was lots of sand and seaweed! She was just enjoying the warm weather as much as we are ☀️🏖️

It’s spring so we are starting to see more baby birds being bought in such as this adorable baby Frogmouth from River Wren! While it may be tempting to want to rescue them if you discover one on the ground, not every chick needs saving! It’s normal for many young birds to spend time on the ground when learning to fly and you will often find the parents keeping a watchful eye on their offspring nearby.

If you come across a young bird in this situation, the best advice is to observe before you react 💚 Place the chick high up in a tree and wait half hour or so to see if the parent comes back. If you’re still concerned, contact your nearest vet or wildlife rescue organisation such as our friends River Wren on 0405 277 796 for further advice before moving them.

This is Henry, a lovely 3 year old Pug who recently underwent BOAS corrective surgery with Dr Joram in July. Henry responded very well to the treatment and can now breathe more easily now that he is fully recovered!

Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BOAS) refers to a set of upper airway abnormalities that can interfere with a brachycephalic dog’s breathing. Affected breeds can include French & English Bulldogs, Boxers, Boston Terriers, Pugs, Pekingese, Shih Tzus, Chinese Shar Pei, Lhasa Apsos and Bull Mastiffs.

Early surgical intervention can be highly effective in correcting anatomical abnormalities and significantly improve airway function preventing the condition from worsening and reduce the risk of further complications from developing.

This beautiful puss was handed in to us this morning as a stray in the Golden Bay area.

🐾 Appears to be a senior kitty (7+ years)

Meet beautiful Macie🐾 Macie is a 12 year old English Staffy who suffers from skin allergies. She came to us recently for her Cytopoint injection which helps relieve the itch in dogs with allergic dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. It works by targeting and neutralising one of the protein’s that send itch signals to their brain which triggers scratching, licking and chewing.
