As the 2025 tracking season officially comes to a close with the final urban trial in WA having been held on Saturday, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our members. From TD1s right through to TGCH10s – you’ve done it all! 🐾

Before we move on to the list of teams and their accomplishments, we would like to give a heartfelt shout-out to a very special team who so often put the club and its members before themselves. Karren wears many hats – Club Secretary, Trial Secretary, trainer, mentor, and friend. Time and again, she’s put her own trialling on hold to support others, which meant missing opportunities to work with Mr Personality himself… Tully! Towards the end of the season Karren finally got the chance to enter their first trial together – and it was absolutely worth the wait. This wonderful team passed with flying colours, with Tully proudly finding all his sockies and his tracklayer. What an achievement! 🎉

One of the toughest steps (after hitting “enter” on the entry form!) is choosing to trial at Track West. It’s one thing to trial where you train, but stepping onto completely new ground, under judges you may never have met before, is a whole new challenge. This year, a number of our teams took that leap – and we applaud their courage and determination for doing so. 👏 Below are the teams who did just that.

As the sun rose on our final tracking trial of the 2025 season, the day promised warmth and clear skies. With 7 entries and 3 judges, the action began early as tracklayers were set off to ensure the dogs could work before the heat truly set in.

It was a wonderful day all around. Our patron, Mrs. Honey Gross-Richardson judged a TSD2 and a TCh8; first-year judge Rachel Evans took on a TD3 and a TDX4; and visiting Queensland judge Kim Dawson oversaw a TD2, TD3, and TCh8.

Thanks to the dedication of a multitude of volunteers, everything ran smoothly—almost without a hitch. And, as always, when small challenges cropped up, the ATC family handled them quickly and calmly, keeping the day on track.

By midday, everyone was back at base camp for presentations and lunch. The dogs and handlers worked beautifully together, bringing home plenty of passes and a handful of shiny new titles.

It was the perfect way to close out the season—celebrating achievements, friendships, and the joy of working alongside our dogs. Until next year, we carry these memories with us, grateful for the journey and already looking forward to the tracks ahead. 🐾💛

🌟Sunday brought us another glorious morning at Marijiniup for our second-last trial of the year. The rain came and went, but truth be told… rain, hail, or shine, Marijiniup always delivers the perfect tracking day 🐾

We had an amazing 15 entries, ranging from TD1 & TSD1 right through to TCh8 – our biggest number of entries in recent years.

From tiny Dachshunds to elegant Poodles, loyal Shepherds to sleek Dobermanns, it was wonderful to see such a variety of breeds enjoying the sport we love 💕

With so many tracks to cover, we brought in a fourth Judge to help the day run smoothly ⏱️ Everything went like clockwork, and we were all back at base camp for lunch and presentations earlier than expected.

👏 Congratulations to all who passed – including 4 new Tracking Dog titles and 1 brand new Tracking Champion 🎉🐶 Such amazing achievements!

And for those who didn’t quite make it this time – remember, tracking is never just about the pass. It’s about the journey, the teamwork, and the joy of being out there with our incredible dogs 🐕

A huge thank you to our 4 dedicated Judges for the long hours spent mapping and flagging, and to our tireless stewards and tracklayers - none of this would be possible without you 💛🖤

Sunday marked ATC’s very first stand-alone Scent Work trial! The day began bright and early for our judges and stewards, with Ultimate kicking off just after 9am. At 10am, Novice and Excellent teams took the line, followed by Advanced and Masters in the afternoon. All levels (apart from Ultimate) tackled containers, and despite the wild weather we had only a handful of scratchings out of an incredible 122 entries. Competitors arrived with big smiles (and plenty of wet weather gear), making it a truly fabulous day.
A huge thank you goes to our judges — Fiona Cowie (Ultimate & Masters), Karren McCluskey (Excellent), and Ben Allen (Novice & Advanced) — for designing such fun and creative searches. We’re also so grateful to our wonderful sponsors Prosperity Pet Pet Fresh Southern Raw Pet Meats Perth Scent Work CLEAR Dog Treats BARK N PAWZ Zen Dog Training. Wildhunde denver designs aus Better Pets and Gardens for donating amazing prizes, and to every competitor who, pass or fail, continues to learn, grow, and most importantly, enjoy the journey with their dogs.
Thanks also to A Place of Space Perth, who braved the weather to keep everyone caffeinated and fed from midday, and to Armadale Senior High School for providing such a challenging venue. Our appreciation also extends to the Scent Work Club of WA Inc for their support.
And finally, the biggest shout-out goes to our dedicated stewards and volunteers. Many of you worked tirelessly all day — often in the pouring rain — to keep everything running smoothly. You are the true unsung heroes of scent work trials, and we simply couldn’t do it without you.

Our Story

ATC was formed in September 2009. ATC is a group of people, who have an interest in the dogs ability to follow a scent. A very broad topic with many aspects to pursue. Any dog of any age can participate. ATC members can also become involved in street tracking where you are taught how to read the dog whilst tracking in the suburban streets. Most ATC members move onto trialling their dogs for both tracking dogs (bush tracking) and then when more advanced, trial for track and search, which involves street tracking. whatever level your interest extends to.

As of 2 years ago 2017 Advanced Tracking Club agreed to support another sport yet to be recognised and aproved by ANKC as a sanctioned Sport and to hold Trials.Training has been underway with positive results and a rapidly growing following.A single dog sport which does not discriminate against handler with physical limitations and dogs who have achieved all available levels in any other sport also physical and behavioural challenges. Expanding the dogs olfactory system is helpful and in concert with any Tracking Dog fitting well within the purpose of Advanced Tracking Club of WA Inc.

OBJECTIVES :To challenge the dogs and at the same time explore a variety of methods and to increase their scenting capabilities by introducing more advanced training methods .To strive to produce quality tracking and eliminate trailing at the same time. Advanced Tracking Club of WA Inc. serves as a platform to source and offer potentially suitable handlers and their dogs a volunteer role as part of Search Dogs Australia Inc. for Humanity.
