Fun fact for those interested. So this is Fonda's milk, the photo on the left is about 40 hours before she foaled. The photo on the right is about 2pm the following day, and she foaled at 5:30am the next morning. This is one of the ways I check to see how close my jennys are to foaling. Their milk goes from clear to milky when gently milked, and when it turns milky they generally aren't far off foaling, 24/48hours.

This of course varies from jenny to jenny, have had one not change at all and then foal. But for the most part this has been a very good indicator or me along with other things like when their bag and teats are most full, and when she softens in the back end. just thought some may find it interesting, the process. I sure do. (My hands aren't always this dirty, we were mowing silage and had been trying to fx a hose on the tractor while franticly checking Fonda)

Thank you to everyone messaging concerned if we are effected by the current flood situation and if we are ok. We personally are ok where our home farm is. We are on slightly higher ground here and Cohuna is ok at the moment but many of the surrounding towns are under water or being heavily effected.

We have some badly effected neighbours animals here on higher ground and we do have some other areas of dry ground if anyone is needing to move horses or some other livestock to a safer area and a 2 horse float available if anyone needs one to move their livestock or belongings.

It’s a stunning little filly for our beautiful jenny Malakai Look My Way and sire Quartermoon Blockbuster (imp USA).

We were lucky enough to purchase Myley (for short) in foal to Blockbuster from Shane at Malakai and are absolutely thrilled to get this gorgeous little filly who we will retain.
