A few weeks ago Cyrus entered the entry level BH-VT test in the dogsport IGP.

The BH is a temperament test which consists of a Heel routine, Sit and Down stay as well as recall to finish with another dog on the field.

So proud of him, we learnt a lot about ourselves as a team and looking forward to training for next level IGP1 ⏳🤩

Deniros update; sound sensitivity

As per his owner he suffered from a fear of loud noises, to the point that when a plastic bottle fell on the floor it made him bolt across the room.

Over time Deniro developed a conditioned reflex to the stimulus, which resulted in a conditioned response each time the stimulus was presented.

Over the last week few weeks we have been working on his obedience, building confidence as well a conditioned response when presented with equal stimuli

When we start our training we establish a signal of communication, the sign connects three parts.

• The signal itself

• What the sign refers to

• The interpreter of the signal

If the signal is valuable to the dog then it will influence its behaviour

Alby ~ here to work with us on his aggression toward people and dogs.

It is normal for a dog to look at strangers with suspicion until they have met and good intentions are established. But It is abnormal to attack every human or dog they come across; this can be due to early learning, imprinting, inheritance as well as a lack of leader role from the owners.

If a dog shows aggression to dogs and humans encountered on a walk, then owners should take immediate action using non violent methods to address the behaviour.

Dog owners should teach their dogs to accept people,dogs as well other animals as early as possible to enhance their social repertoire

Knowing how to trigger dopamine releases in our puppies is important when starting training

The expectance of a reinforcer causes dopamine levels to rise and gives you a dog that is much more attentive

Creating reinforcers such as pairing vocal signals and giving treats at strategic points to start conditioning communication markers is vital before we can start to teach our dogs

Cool dog or Bull dog!? 🤩🔐

Miss Nyla has been working on her general Obedience through our program.

Like most dogs part of Nyla’s day consists of her daily walk; her appetence has been quite heavily reinforced when it is time to go out.

Nyla’s drawn by her snout and everything else turns into white noise as she starts her walk.

We have been working on engagement exercises and conditioning a communicating system she understands and can have success in📍🔐
