Welcome dear Charlie to our rescue, pictured here with my mother Gayebriella. Charlie is a 10month old Maltese x baby, who was a bit too reactive and hyperactive for his family. He is currently in a lovely calm foster home with beautiful dog savvy people and Charlie is settling down extremely well. As per my previous post, Charlie was formerly crated…It’s not rocket science that when dogs are given a bit of freedom to be themselves that they bloom. Please no adoption applications for Charlie, he requires surgery on Monday and vet work.

Please! STOP crating your dogs. It is a complete misconception that dogs feel ‘safe’ in a crate. At the end of the day its a cage. Not a ‘den’ not a ‘safe space,’ it’s a cage. We are seeing crates sold now as furniture items😔 Train your dog, spend time with them, love them. But please don’t buy into the ‘crates help train’ your dog myth and ‘reduce anxiety’. They don’t. Plain and simple. I am seeing far too many dogs come in who have been ‘crate trained,’ but are scared of the world. If you want an item of convenience that you can lock away, don’t buy/adopt a pet. People may argue ‘my dog loves her crate’. She doesn’t.

It’s bloody cold!🥶 And Our furbabies feel it more than ever, especially the wee small ones! Please pop coats and sweaters on your dogs, especially small breeds that can not regulate their temperatures very well such as chihuahuas. Horses also need rugging and appropriate feed to prevent condition drop. Unfortunately pounds won’t take blankets and beds as donations, but most do try to keep the dogs dry, fed and safe, so rescues can take them in. So please remember how lucky you are if you have animals and treat them as best as you possibly can.🙏🏻🩷

Out of the cold pound and into our rescue today🙏🏻🩷 Baloo will spend tonight finally in a warm loving foster home. He is a sweet old gentleman who doesn’t deserve to be in a confusing loud pound at his age. Thankyou to the rangers who helped save this little guy and send him to us, as I always say; it takes a village to save a life.

Abandoned in bushland, found waiting on a Tshirt😢 Meet Ollie, he was rescued from the pound today by our lovely volunteer Dervla, after he was found by authorities in a bushland area waiting by himself on a Tshirt. Today he has thankfully left the pound and is in foster care with a doggie playmate. Ollie is a few months old and his past life has not seemed to of affected him at all! He is funny, happy, loves to play. He is good with other dogs and will need training as he is a very smart puppy who is eager to learn. He will be a medium to large breed boy when he grows up and is currently being fed a proper diet in foster care. Ollie needs a safe, stable and loving home with fairly active parents/ family. He would be a great companion for another dog, and is best homed in a family with children over 12 yrs old in case he jumps up initially. Ollie’s vet work will be done this week and he will then be ready for his new home.
