🐾💙 MUM AND PUP FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!

We are in desperate need of foster homes who can care for nursing mums and their pups.

We currently have one mum in our care who has 6 x 2 week old puppies and needs a new foster home to move into. This beautiful medium sized mum and her pups will need care for around 6 weeks until the puppies are old enough to go to their forever homes.

We have also been notified of a mum in a regional pound who we would love to save but need to have a foster home lined up for her to go to before we can arrange transportation to Perth. She is also medium sized with 7 puppies who are approximately 5 weeks old and will need care for approximately 2 - 3 weeks.

Everything required like food, bedding, toys, puppy pads etc is provided by DRH. Of course all vet care costs are covered by us too, what we are asking for is a safe, warm and loving home for them to grow.

The requirements:
💙A pet free home
💙Someone home more often than not
💙Lot's of TLC

Please apply below if you can help with either of these cases, or email [email protected] if if you're an existing carer or have applied to foster.

I highly recommend Susan @ Physio for Pets and also recommend refraining from repetitive throwing for dogs as the braking and sharp turning is so bad for their joints.

You don’t realise the damage it does until the dog is older eg 6 -8 years old and then the issues arise.

It’s very stressful to crate-rest a dog for months after surgery and the surgery is very expensive too and there’s no guarantee it will work. Prevention is definitely better than cute.

I will post a meme re ball throwing on my next post as don’t think I can add it to this one. Also, it is far healthier mentally and physically to give our dogs migratory walks where they can move through the environment at their own pace and check out all the sniffs which is how they process the world.

Also, throwing the ball repetitively can lead to behavioural issues as the dog is not practising its natural behaviour and it locks their brains into a mental, obsessive rut.

The start of 2025 must be a renamed as

“ YEAR of the CRUCIATE “

Because just about every dog I see seems to have ruptured one in their knee/stifle.

Sadly most owners contribute to this issue without realising the harm that they are doing, so I will summarise below.

Causes of Cruciate Ligament Damage

1. Ball chasing

2. Frisbee jumping

3. Jumping on and off your bed or sofa ( about 50x each day).

4. Slipping and sliding on your lovely wooden/ tile floors

5. Zoomies in the house or yard

6. Rough play between dogs

7. Running in tight circles

Do you tick any of the above ?

If you did, then it’s not too late to make some changes to prevent the ligament from fully rupturing or tearing.

If however you already down the path of getting that bad news from the vet and that your poor dog is also hobbling around on 3 legs ( and no they don’t fake it like we do), then we probably need to talk.

How can physio help your dog ?

If your dog is

1. Pre surgery
2. Post surgery
3. Partial tear of the cruciate ligament

Then Physiotherapy can help with

1. Reducing pain , inflammation and swelling.

2. Help strengthen the muscles around the knee/ stifle ( way better than what you find on YouTube and safer too!)

3. Help improve limb proprioception

4. Help with normalising the posture and weight bearing so your dog is less likely to damage the other leg.

5. Help you with custom made braces if surgery is not an option.

6. We are here to support you through your rehab journey.

7. We are NOT a vet replacement - meaning that you do still need to see your vet or ortho specialist.

Please reach out if you need help - [email protected]

🚨 CLOSING NOTICE 🚨

The cycle continues, and it feels like it's getting shorter. 😔 With the rising number of dogs being abandoned or left unclaimed at pounds, along with private surrender applications (we received six in just ONE morning), our shortage of foster carers has led us to temporarily halt intakes.

We must focus on our current list and FIND foster homes for them.

It’s never easy to announce, "we're unable to help," but we must be realistic. As a foster-based rescue, we cannot confidently say "yes, we can assist" without having available carers.

To reopen our doors, we urgently NEED more foster carers and successful adoptions!

Join our foster team and please consider adoption 👉🏽 https://www.sabbr.com.au/foster/

My Story

Hi, my name is Julia. I set up Paws Pet Care in 2014 to meet the growing demand for dog walkers that is a reflection of our busy lifestyles and many people struggling to find time to walk their dogs. I have since qualified as a dog trainer https://www.imdt.uk.com/find-a-qualified-imdt-trainer.html DOG WALKING Dogs ideally need to go for a walk at least once a day. If your dog is a sociable, vaccinated, desexed dog, I can collect him/her and take him/her to an off-lead park with up to 4 other social dogs where they can run around and play with each other and with me, sniff, fetch toys - whatever they love to do for at least 45 minutes and then get dropped home. I charge $27.50 for this service. I call the dogs to me many times on these walks and reward them with treats when they come. Even the dogs who are slow to start with soon speed up when they see the others getting treats. Many of my clients have thanked me for improving their dog’s recall (see testimonials on my website). If your dog has special needs e.g. poor recall, anxiety but is non-reactive, these walks are $55/45 mins. Dog-reactive dogs are $65/45 mins. When I walk dogs, I work hard to engage them and keep their focus on me by playing and interacting with them almost constantly (unless I've invited them to go off and play with other dogs or sniff for a bit where I will supervise but give them freedom and the space they need) which gives them a fun experience and reinforces that the human initiates all good things and therefore is to be listened to at all times. Dogs who do not get enough mental or physical exercise often resort to unwanted doggy behaviours such as chewing, digging and barking to alleviate their boredom and frustration. Giving your dog the opportunity to get out and have a good walk/run while you're at work/away will make him/her, and You, feel so much better. Surcharges apply for ad-hoc walks, and weekends/public holidays/peak holiday periods. Please see website for details https://pawspetcare.com.au/pricing/ DOG TRAINING I offer training for humans who are struggling with their dogs and can show you how to address many of the common issues e.g. won’t come back to you when called on walks, digging, chewing, nipping, barking, jumping up, pulling on lead etc.

The initial session is $155.00 for a minimum of 90 minutes and includes ongoing support between sessions. Follow- up sessions are $65 for 45 minutes. Please see my website for more information - pawspetcare.com.au. Initial training is conducted at your house (within 10km of Radnor Street, Leeming. Travel surcharges apply over 10km or I can recommend trainers who live nearer to you).

Additional training sessions are $65.00/45 mins. If recall is the main issue, we can use this time at a park to practise what you’ve learned.

I also offer Walk and Train – these are on-lead walks where I can teach your dog focus/connection with handler, loose-leash walking, come, sit, stay, leave it, down etc. These are $65.00/45mins.
