After 4 years of caring for, walking and grooming our much loved companions, it saddens me to announce the closure of my business. After a lot of consideration, I made the decision this week. *I will be honouring any bookings I currently have* Many of my clients are needing to save money and can no longer get their Sheltie groomed on a regular basis as well as people are not holidaying like they used to, due to the economy. As a small business, I cannot sustain the quality of care that I have always given. Insurance, shampoo, conditioner, grooming equipment expenses etc adds up to quite a substantial amount and I rely on regular clients to keep the business running.
I have thought that offering a purely 100% Sheltie only business would have been a niche service that Sheltie owners would have loved to use. For a while this was the case and I was super busy, but over time I think the novelty has worn off for some and they are choosing to groom their dog themselves or get the neighbour to care for them while away. I understand the need to save money and I have always tried to keep my prices lower than others, but I have been impacted by the cost of living too.
Furthermore, always wanting to do the right thing, I have given clients discounts and services for free over the years and in many cases, it has not been appreciated. However, I have appreciated my loyal clients who have supported me throughout this journey. I will miss you
