GDV (BLOAT) is a life threatening emergency that needs immediate veterinary attention!⚠️
GDV stands for Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus. Which is when the stomach fills with gas and can twist on itself. This cuts off blood supply and can rapidly become fatal without urgent treatment.😢
Signs to watch for:⚠️
➡️Bloated or swollen abdomen
➡️Retching or trying to vomit with nothing coming up
➡️Restlessness or pacing
➡️Excessive drooling
➡️Panting or difficulty breathing
➡️Weakness or collapse
While GDV is more common in large, deep chested dogs, it can occur in any breed and even cats.🐶🐱
