📖 Ollie's Diary: The Escape Artist & The Snuggle Incident

Well... it turns out I like to keep Mum on her toes. 😂
Remember that horse that didn’t like me when I first arrived? I broke out of my paddock and into his and we became besties.
We even had a little adventure down the road together. Mum was moving us to a new paddock with our other friends and we did the bolt together, down the driveway and onto the road. Mum was yelling a lot of profanities while we were galloping free like wild horses…. We did turn around and go home much to mums relief.
I think she may have aged approximately 10 years in those few minutes. 😅

Today was a much more wholesome adventure.
I haven't had my halter on for a couple of weeks, so Mum wasn't quite sure how our catching session was going to go.
But... After a little bit of patience I put my nose in the halter! 🥹💛
And then Dad decided it was time for some snuggles, which I wasn't entirely sure about at first I mean, humans are strange creatures.
He discovered the magic spot though, aghhh the neck scratches.
Well! Suddenly, perhaps humans aren't so bad after all. 😂
It's little moments like this that remind Mum that building trust doesn't always have to involve a big training session. Sometimes it's simply giving me time, listening to my body language, letting me investigate, and showing me that being caught can mean something really nice.
I'm becoming more confident every week, and while I still have plenty of opinions (and apparently a talent for spontaneous road trips), I'm learning that my humans are here to look after me.
And maybe... just maybe... I quite like their cuddles.
Don't tell Mum I said that. 🤫

📖 Ollie's Diary: Life Lately 📖

It's been a little while since my last diary update... apparently Mum has been "busy." 🙄

She says work has been keeping her occupied, and she's been working hard on the case studies for her equine massage course. Personally, I think she could have rearranged her priorities I mean, documenting my life is clearly very important. 🐴😂

The good news is that life has become much less chaotic. I've been spending lots of time out in the big paddock with the big horses, learning how to be part of the herd and enjoying all the grass I can possibly fit into my little belly.

Although... I may have accidentally given Mum one of the biggest scares of her life.

One evening she came out in the dark with dinner, and while all the big horses wandered over, I decided not to.

Next thing you know, Mum was wandering around the paddock with her phone in one hand, talking to Dad, convinced I'd somehow vanished into thin air. I'm pretty sure the words "Where has he gone?!" were repeated more than once.

Little did she know, I was simply minding my own business, blissfully unaware that I'd triggered a full-blown panic attack. Oops. 😅

Safe to say, I was absolutely fine... and Mum may have gained a few extra grey hairs.

Looking back over the past couple of weeks, I'm becoming more settled every day. The big horses don't seem quite so intimidating anymore, my confidence is growing, and this place is starting to feel like home.

Every week I'm learning something new, becoming a little braver, and proving that even when there aren't many shenanigans... I can still keep Mum on her toes.

📖 Ollie's Diary: Week 2

Well... we've all survived another week. 😅
The good news? There were significantly fewer shenanigans this time around. Which is probably for the best, because Mum was already teetering on the edge of a full-blown menty b, and I didn't want to risk the snack wagon arriving late... or, even worse, not arriving at all. Priorities, right? 🍎🥕
I'm still not entirely convinced that my rug isn't plotting to swallow me whole. Every time it comes out, I like to remind Mum that it's definitely suspicious. She keeps telling me it's there to keep me warm. I'm keeping an open mind... sort of.
This week I also spent some time out with the big horses. It's all very exciting learning the herd dynamics and figuring out where I fit in. There are lots of new things to see, new friends to make, and plenty of lessons to learn.
We've also been working on some new skills together. I'm slowly becoming more confident, a little braver, and much more curious about the world around me. Mum keeps saying that every small win is worth celebrating and I think she's right.
Looking back, it's funny how much can change in just one week. Last week everything felt big and scary. This week, my world feels just that little bit smaller, a little more familiar, and a lot more exciting.
I might still think my rug is a monster... but I'm starting to believe this new place might just become home. 💛

📖 Ollie's Diary: Week 1 🏡

Well... it's safe to say my first week in my new home has been eventful. 🐴💛

Moving house is a big deal for a little horse, and I've certainly kept everyone on their toes.

One of the older horses wasn't quite convinced that I belonged here and spent a fair bit of time reminding me that I was the new kid on the block. Unfortunately, that resulted in me jumping the electric fence quite a few times while trying to make a quick getaway. 😅

The paddocks have been muddy with lots of rain, I've been figuring out my new surroundings, and apparently there are all sorts of strange things humans expect me to wear...like a rug.

At first, I was absolutely certain this suspicious object was going to eat me. But with gentle hands, patience, and lots of reassurance, I discovered that maybe it wasn't quite so terrifying after all. By the end of the week, I was proudly wearing my rug like a seasoned professional. ✨

While it's been a week full of challenges, it's also been a week of learning, growing, and building trust.

For Mum, this has been a reminder that young horses don't come with a rule book. Sometimes progress looks messy. Sometimes it involves muddy paddocks, runaway foals, and questioning your life choices. But with patience and understanding, confidence starts to grow.

Here's to week one, surviving the chaos, and looking forward to whatever adventures week two brings. 💛

✨ Meet Ollie ✨

I'd like to introduce the newest member of the herd, Ollie. 🐴💛
Ollie's registered name is Majik Hollywood Edition, and he is a Paint c**t bred by Majik Paints. Born in December 2025, he's still very much a baby with his whole future ahead of him.

I welcomed Ollie home last week, and while I've spent many years caring for horses, raising a weanling is a completely new experience for me. That makes this journey equal parts exciting, rewarding, and a little bit daunting!
Over the coming months and years, I'd love to share Ollie's story through diary-style updates. Together we'll navigate all the adventures of growing up from learning the basics and building confidence, to developing good manners, making friends, and everything in between.

This series won't just be about Ollie's progress. It will also be about my learning journey as I work to give him the best possible start in life through education, welfare-focused care, and plenty of patience.
I'm looking forward to documenting the highs, the challenges, and all the special moments along the way. 💛
