🎄✨ Christmas & New Year Pet Safety✨🎄
The festive season is a wonderful time for family, friends… and our pets! However, Christmas and New Year can also bring hidden dangers for our furry companions. Here are a few important things to keep in mind:
🍫 Festive Foods
Chocolate, grapes/raisins, alcohol, onions, garlic, macadamia nuts and xylitol (found in many sweets and sugar-free products) can be toxic to pets. Please keep all festive treats well out of reach.
🎁 Decorations & Wrapping
Tinsel, ribbons, ornaments and wrapping can look like fun toys but can cause serious intestinal blockages if swallowed. Keep decorations secured and clean up scraps promptly.
🌸 Plants
Many popular Christmas plants such as lilies, poinsettias and mistletoe can be harmful to pets. Always check plant safety before bringing them into your home.
🍖 Bones & Fatty Foods
Cooked bones can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries, while fatty foods can lead to pancreatitis. Stick to pet-safe treats instead.
🎆 Fireworks & Loud Noises
Fireworks and parties can be frightening for many animals. Provide a safe, quiet space, keep pets secure indoors, and ensure microchip details are up to date.
🚗 Holiday Travel & Visitors
Open doors, unfamiliar visitors and busy households increase the risk of pets escaping. Double-check gates and remind guests to be mindful.
If your pet is unwell please don’t hesitate to give us a call ❤️
