In the equine world, balance and pain-free movement is essential for all disciplines to reach full potential; be it shaving a second off that barrel run, making it over that jump, performing that manoeuvre or stretching out down the home straight. The EMMETT Technique is a unique therapy involving the application of light pressure on specific points to affect immediate release in surrounding muscl

e tissue. Using light pressure, the technique works on unique points within muscles and muscle groups. Emmett needs to be performed with the right pressure, in the correct direction and with precise timing to achieve the best outcome. It can assist in alleviating muscle tension which can lead to pain, a reduced range of movement and performance in the leisure or competition horse or pony.

• Inhibited movement/muscle restrictions
• Poor performance or behaviour changes
• Injuries from sport or accidents
• Unbalanced gait or stance
• Lead/harness strain
• Lower back distress
• Has difficulty cantering on one lead
• Has an uneven or short stride
• Rearing or bucking
• Has a dislike of being tacked up
• Has difficulty performing lateral work
• Holding tail to one side
• Reluctant to stand still for rider to mount

I shouldn’t be amazed, but I am. Our foster dog Sunnie is an epileptic and we are still trying to regulate his medication, which means he has the occasional seizure.

I did two Emmett moves after his last seizure and within 10 minutes he was calm and relaxed. He normally paces around anxiously, bumping into things, drooling for at least an hour.

LOVE THIS THERAPY! It works and I’m thrilled that I can help this beautiful boy. Photo is post seizure, no photos during as they are very distressing.
