These are the types we look for — athletic, sound horses with good pedigrees and value, that we believe we can develop through our system at Katanga Lodge.

Massive congratulations to Ben Kennedy on riding his first Victorian winner today for Phillip Stokes 👏🏇

No one works harder than Ben and the result couldn’t happen to a more deserving person!! Day in, day out he goes above and beyond, not only for Phil’s stable but for ours as well, always putting in the extra work without ever asking for anything in return.

To see that hard work rewarded today was something really special and we honestly couldn’t be prouder. Plenty more winners ahead!! ⭐️🍻

Raghnall produces a strong effort to run 2nd at Werribee over 1600m today 🥈

Beaten a neck after doing a few things wrong in running, but showed great determination to the line.

Still very raw — just his 3rd career start — and he’s learning with every run.

Well handled by Ben Kennedy 👏

Wishing all our owners, supporters and friends a wonderful Easter Sunday. We hope the long weekend has been filled with good food, great company and plenty of racing.

We’re in action today with Raghnall at Mornington Racecourse in Race 1, partnered by Ben Kennedy.

🐎 Ownership Opportunity – Dani California

Dani California is a talented three-year-old gelding by Hellbent out of the Red Ransom mare Red Hot Chillies, and he’s a horse with plenty of upside moving forward.

He’s already shown ability at the races, including an impressive maiden win at Wangaratta in class record time after resuming as a gelding. His following run was one of the best of the day after missing the kick on a leader-biased track and charging home strongly. His pedigree continues to stack up, with Hellbent firmly established among the country’s leading sires and Red Hot Chillies producing five winners from seven runners.

Dani California arrived into the stable on Thursday 5 February and has settled in very well. He’s had throat surgery for an entrapped epiglottis, with his most recent runs — including a win and second placing — coming post-surgery. I’ve been very pleased with his breathing during slow work at the track, and we’ll be looking to trial him in approximately six weeks as we build into his next preparation. Shares are available (10%, 5% and 2.5%)— please get in touch if you’d like more information.

🐎 Ownership Opportunity – Rock The Bar

We’re excited to welcome Rock The Bar to the stable following the latest Inglis Digital Sale — a tough, consistent five-year-old gelding by Toronado who offers an immediate racing opportunity.

A four-time winner with multiple city placings and over $115,000 in prizemoney, Rock The Bar has been a remarkably consistent performer, particularly between 1100m and 1500m. He was within three lengths of the winner at his previous two starts and notably finished a closing second over 1400m at Seymour on Tuesday during the auction, confirming he’s right where we want him form-wise. He’s also fully qualified for VOBIS Silver, Gold and Platinum, adding further upside.

Rock The Bar arrived into the stable on Thursday 5 February in great order and has already been to the track. He’s sound, straightforward to manage, and a genuine pleasure to deal with. We’d be looking to add a little more condition and have him back at the races in approximately 3–4 weeks.
