Why should you crate train your dog!?

1 - Creates a safe space
The world can be a scary place. Crate training can help make this a little less scary for your dog. Having a crate (safe space) for your dog to go to when things are happening can help them decompress.. i.e storms, fireworks, guests, children, etc.

2 - Helps with toilet training
Helps you dog learn how to control their bladder due to their typical unwillingness to go to the toilet where they sleep. Also helps build routine - after sleep, toilet.. after eating, toilet.. etc.

3. Can help in the prevention of separation anxiety.
Helps build independence with your new puppy. Teaches them how to be alone, while also teaching impulse control.

4. Conditioned "down time"
This is often overlooked when we get a new puppy. It is so important to teach them to "turn off" and relax. Make sure when crate training, their crate is big enough for them to stand-up, turn around and SLEEP in a nice comfy bed.

5. Minimise stress in already stressful situations
Similar to #1, however different.. have you ever had a dog have to stay overnight at the vet? Have you ever been evacuated and had to keep your dog secure? Having a crate in both of those situations with DECREASE your dogs stress, help with anxiety and minimise destructive / problem behaviours.
