🐶 Great Danes are one of the tallest dog breeds in the world – some can reach over 2 metres when standing on their hind legs! 😲

💤 Despite their size, they’re total couch potatoes and love nothing more than a good nap.

❤️ Known as “gentle giants,” Great Danes are incredibly affectionate and great with kids.

🍽️ Their big appetites match their big hearts – they can eat up to 10 cups of food a day!

🐕‍🦺 Originally bred to hunt wild boar, they’re now better suited to snuggles than the wild!

We're in the midst of school holidays and if you're running out of ideas to keep the chaos and/or boredom at bay, here are a few ideas to keep both your pets and your kids entertained together!

1. 🐾 Pet Photo Day
Let kids take turns photographing their pets in cute costumes or natural poses using a phone or tablet. You can turn the best photos into a DIY photo album or scrapbook.

2. 🎨 Pet Portrait Art Session
Set up a mini art station outdoors or at the kitchen table. Kids can draw or paint portraits of their pets - great for creativity and makes a lovely keepsake.

3. 📖 Storytime with Pets
Kids can read out loud to their dog or cat. It’s calming for both the child and the pet, and can help build reading confidence - especially good for younger children.
4. 🧼 DIY Pet Spa Day
Let kids help give the dog a bath using pet-safe shampoo, then brush and pamper them. You can even make it feel like a “spa” with towels, treats, and cuddles.

5. 🍦 Frozen Treat Making
Make simple frozen dog treats together using ingredients like peanut butter, banana, and yogurt in silicone moulds or ice cube trays. Kids love mixing, and dogs love the results!

6. 🐕 Create a Pet Obstacle Course at the Park
Bring some portable items like hula hoops, cones, or ropes and set up a mini obstacle course. Kids can cheer their pet on or guide them through it.

7. 🎬 Backyard Pet Movie Night
Set up a blanket and snacks outside and watch a dog-themed movie like Bolt or Secret Life of Pets with the family and pup snuggled in.

Did you know that cats and dogs actually love baby talk? 🐱🐶💬

Dogs are far more likely to pay attention to us when we use this “caregiver speech,” and scientists have found the same is true for cats, though only when their owner is talking.

There is evidence to suggest that cats and dogs may bond with us in some of the same ways infants do. “We are the caregivers—they can sense it,” researcher Charlotte de Mouzon said. “It reflects and reinforces that bond.”

This communication isn’t just a one-way street. Cats, too, have changed the way they “talk” for us. Adult cats almost never meow to any creatures besides humans, for example, and their purrs appear to have evolved a high-frequency component that evokes human baby cries—all the better to get our attention!

Afternoons spent at the beautiful Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm in Mt Alford are hard to beat! This weekend, we had the pleasure of attending Jemma and Tyson’s wedding with their adorable fur babies, Quin the Golden Retriever and Millie the Border Collie.

The pups made their grand entrance down the aisle behind the ring bearer and flower girls, then sat patiently with our handler throughout the ceremony. Quin even gave a joyful bark of approval as his mum and dad made their way back down the aisle as newlyweds! 🐾💍

As part of our all-inclusive wedding service, we cared for Quin and Millie the night before the wedding, chauffeured them to the venue on the big day, and then gave them a cosy night in with Lauren, their Happy Hounds team member after the celebrations wrapped up.

It’s peace of mind for pet parents—so you can focus on your “I do’s” knowing your fur babies are in safe hands. 💜

🌧️🐶 5 Fun Rainy Day Activities to Enjoy with Your Dog! 🐾☔
We know it's been a little on the rainy side lately - and we're always happy to come and walk your dog if they don't mind getting a bit wet - or playing undercover with them if they prefer! But if you're home in the evenings or on the weekend and want a few tips to help burn some pup energy - Here are five ideas you can try with your dog on rainy days:

1️⃣ Hide and Seek – Hide somewhere in the house and call your dog’s name. Reward them with treats and cuddles when they find you!

2️⃣ DIY Indoor Agility Course – Use chairs, cushions, and broomsticks to create a mini obstacle course. Guide your dog through tunnels and jumps for a fun challenge!

3️⃣ Treat Puzzle Toys – Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise. Try a snuffle mat or a puzzle feeder to keep your dog’s brain busy.

4️⃣ Trick Training Session – Teach your dog a new trick, like spinning, playing dead, or even tidying up their toys. Positive reinforcement makes learning fun!

5️⃣ Scent Work Game – Hide treats around the house and let your dog sniff them out. This taps into their natural instincts and keeps them engaged.
