🩷Introducing our gorgeous Golden Retriever Dilly! Dilly is in foster care in Sydney and is available for rehoming as far south as Canberra and up to Newcastle.

🩷Dilly was one of many ex-breeder Golden Retrievers surrendered from a breeder earlier this year. Some of the Goldens were extremely anxious when they came into care with DAP as they were used for breeding puppies.
🩷We were very lucky to have received offers of foster care from some great people who helped to rehabilitate the Goldens who needed intensive care. Dilly's carers did a great job of bringing her out of her shell while she was with them, special thanks to Harvey the resident good boy dog for all his help and guidance with Dilly when she needed it.

🩷It's now time to find Dilly her forever home and wouldn't be a wonderful birthday present for her. She turns 3 on the 16th of August.

💻A bit about Dilly:
🩷Dilly loves walk and even pulls you along to make it easier for you!!
She loves cuddles and will wrap herself beside you on the couch to watch TV.
She is a very smart girl who has learnt to sit on command, she won’t touch her dinner till after you say ‘sit, wait’ and then ‘eat” and tap her bowl showing her very good manners.
Off leash she loves to run like the wind and will come back with a whistle and the words 'Come Dilly'.
Dilly is very social and loves playing with other dogs and has been great with kids and the elderly.
Dilly is a big puppy at heart who needs a home that will give her all the love in the world, because for her first 2 and half years she had nothing.
• You will need to supply lots of chew toys because she needs to be kept busy when she’s alone - she is a late blooming puppy!
• If you love to snuggle Dilly is your girl.

🩷DILLY'S NEW HOME MUST HAVE A DOG ALREADY LIVING WITH THE FAMILY, A HOME WITHOUT ANOTHER DOG IS NOT SUITABLE FOR DILLY. DON'T APPLY IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANOTHER DOG BECAUSE WE WILL NOT RESPOND TO YOUR APPLICATION.
Dilly's new doggie mate must be happy, playful, around her age or a little bit older and very friendly. Dilly needs toys and training to keep her mind active and lots of walks and socialisation with both humans and other friendly dogs. We suggest no small children, older children will be fine.
🩷If you fit the criteria perfectly, please fill in our application form www.deniseatpaws.com.au/contact-us

EVERYONE needs to read this if you are thinking of adopting!

Lately, we have more returns coming back, and if everyone would think of it this way, it could avoid that! We work soooo hard with these dogs and put months of work, foster care, interviews, education to foster/adopters in, and we finally celebrate an adoption…….or do we???? Not usually because it seems like lately we are having more come back than usual 🤦🏻‍♀️

It takes time and patience! No dog deserves to be judged by its first hours, days, even weeks!! It takes time and work!

Adopting a pet? Congrats! You've just picked someone up in your car who isn't great at communicating, just got out of a tough situation, and isn't sure if they trust you yet. Sound familiar? That's because the first three days with a new pet are basically a 72-hour first date.

It's exciting, it's awkward, and it's definitely not the time to start planning your holiday cards or giving them a bubble bath.

No judgment, but some of y'all might need a quick refresher on first-date etiquette. So here's your official guide to early red flags (from you, not them).

🚩 Leaving them unattended like it's no big deal-
Imagine showing up to a blind date and immediately getting ditched at a party where you know no one. That's how your pet feels when they're left alone right away.

🚩 Being too handsy
They're cute. You're smitten. But this isn't the moment for kisses, cuddles, or TikToks with voiceovers. You just met. They don't know your intentions yet.

This isn't a fling; it's the start of something real. Let them come to you.

🚩 Introducing them to your entire cast of characters
Have you ever met someone, and they immediately want you to meet their mom? Yikes.

Your pet doesn't need to meet your whole social circle (or animal crew) right away. Let them settle in, one face at a time. Save the group hangs for later.

🚩 Giving them a bath
You wouldn't give someone you just met a bath, and if you would… we don't want to talk about this anymore.

Yes, shelter pets can be a little stinky. But baths are a lot. They're wet, stressful, and weirdly intimate for a pet who doesn't even know your hobbies yet. Spritz some pet-safe essential oils around the house and give them time to decompress before sudsing them up.

🚩 Taking them on a spontaneous adventure-
Keep things calm and close to home. No breweries, dog parks, or road trips. Your pet's just trying to figure out which room has the snacks, don't make them learn a whole new location yet.

🚩 Expecting instant love
Some folks swipe right, go on one date, and expect sparks to fly immediately. The same energy applies to new pet parents who expect instant attachment.

Sometimes, it does happen, but more often, it's a slow burn. They might hide under the bed, bark at the fridge, or side-eye you for three days straight. It doesn't mean it's not working. It just means you're still getting to know each other.

💘 The Bottom Line: Love doesn't always strike like lightning. Sometimes, it starts with awkward silences, side-eyes, and mutually agreeing that you won't make any sudden moves. But give it time, stay patient, and keep showing up, and you just might find yourself in the best relationship of your life.

Malcom hasn’t had the easiest journey 💔

His past is hazy, and he’s endured more than we’ll ever truly know—but his body tells us enough.

One eye. A few scars. And a heart that took time to trust again 😔

At almost 10 years old, Malcom should be enjoying his golden years curled up on a comfy couch, pottering around the garden, or snoozing at someone’s feet. Instead, he spends his time quietly waiting for a kindness and comfort he has never known.

And despite it all, Malcom remains hopeful. Tender but true 🙌

He leans in slowly for affection. Takes cautious steps forward. And when he feels safe, he rests his head on your lap like he’s finally found home.

He may be old. He may be missing an eye. But his heart holds a gentle longing and silent hope.

Malcom isn’t asking for much. Just a quiet home, a warm bed, and most of all… someone to love ❤️

🐾Ernie

4 month old, male terrier x

Young Ernie is the brightest little chap, with a wonderful curiosity that makes him such fun to be around.

He’s great with his foster brother and has proved to be a quick learner; he knows his name, is well on the way to being fully toilet trained and is a joy to have around.

His crazy hair is growing now that he has some TLC - the vet thought he might have some exotic Crested Chinese DNA. The only downside with this pup is his obsession with stealing socks❤️ - and stealing hearts.

If you’d like to adopt Ernie, please send the page a private message, for an adoption application form 😊

$500 desexed, microchipped, flea & wormed and vaccinations up to date.

APPLICATIONS CLOSED. We warned you he'd be popular 😀

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. Malcom, 15 months, male Cavoodle, 5.5kgs

Look at this baby ❤ Are you looking for a young, playful family member? Malcolm is the boy for you.

He loves small, friendly dogs to play with and meeting strangers that are simply friends he hasn't met yet. He's been to markets and cafes and is a charming companion. He's not a huge fan of the car, but the more you take him fun places, the more he will consider the car a positive experience.

What Malcolm requires:

⭐ A home with another small, young, playful dog. He will not be rehomed as an only dog.

⭐ A family who will make him part of their life. Take him camping, bush walking, kids sports, beach walks. He doesn't care, just don't leave him behind. He does need someone home more often than not, retired or WFH a few days a week is fine.

⭐ A family committed to ongoing, force free training. He is still only a baby and will enjoy training as much as you will. He currently has some anxiety, but that's to be expected considering the changes he's had in his life. With consistency and training he will move past it.

⭐ A secure backyard, he will not be happy in an apartment.

⭐ Dog savvy kids over 6 years old, he is only small. He'd love to join the kids at sport and play. Having no kids or friendly grandbabies are also fine.

He is available in NSW and the ACT only, Sydney region up as far as Newcastle down to Canberra. A homecheck and adoption fee will apply.

If you are interested in adopting Malcolm and fit the criteria, please fill in our application form and tell us all about the home you can give him. He is going to be popular, we suggest you get in an application quickly.
