A new champion arrived in the desert last week when Bullio Djokovic delivered an emphatic victory in the HH The President of the UAE Cup 120km at Boutheeb.

My son Hamish and I were fortunate to be there in person, and we were incredibly impressed—not only by Djokovic’s performance, but by the depth of preparation and professionalism from his world-class team: trainer and rider .

It was also a good day for our breeding program more broadly. We had six horses by six different stallions competing at a very high level, with three finishing inside the top ten from a field of 121 elite competitors.

Being present at these events is invaluable. Watching how different horses perform under true pressure teaches us more than any result sheet ever could. When we breed, our goal is always to identify a horse’s weaknesses and select matings that help correct them—working toward a clear ideal in mind. Yet no foal is ever born perfect.

Seeing top-class performances despite imperfections is always a powerful reminder not to be too harsh when assessing young stock. We keep learning, keep observing, and keep refining our understanding of what truly matters in an endurance horse. And those small imperfection will simply become the focus of the next mating.

Progress is built one lesson at a time.

Bullio Blue Steel (Littlebanks Troubadour x Bullio Blue Sue) 15.3hh (160cm) 2018 stallion. Available by frozen semen within Australia only. To have a son from our world champion mare Bullio Blue Sue we consider ourselves very lucky. But to have one of this quality and substance is beyond our wildest dreams. We are so grateful to have him on the farm. For those that will point it out (and like to gossip)- yes I have photo shopped his w***y out of the photo……

Introducing RAZORBACK TEA BISCUIT (2020 Arabian Stock Horse Stallion)

Sired by the world-leading Marcon Ios Conquero and out of the legendary mare Razorback Kalimah, we are proud to present our young stallion Tea Biscuit.

Kalimah has already secured her place in history as the dam of world record holder Razorback Mechano and the exceptional Razorback Targaryen. Several of her younger progeny are now entering training with some of the world’s top stables, and we are confident they will continue her remarkable legacy.

Through our artificial breeding program, Kalimah produced eight sons over the past five years — all outstanding endurance prospects. Choosing just one to retain as a stallion was no easy decision, but Tea Biscuit stood out. He embodies the very best qualities of both his sire and dam, combining athleticism, temperament, bone and type in a way that makes us extremely excited for his future.

We already have two foals on the ground from Tea Biscuit, and we are thrilled with the quality they are showing. His journey as a sire is only just beginning, but we believe he has all the ingredients to make a lasting mark.

Tea Biscuit will be fully registered and available via frozen semen this coming spring within Australia only.

Introducing BULLIO INVICTUS (2022 Stallion)

Half-brother (through his dam) to world-leading stallion Marcon Ios Conquero and multiple world champion Bullio Blue Sue (Haleh), “Buckey” carries a pedigree steeped in greatness.

His name INVICTUS — Latin for Unconquered — reflects both his brother’s legacy and his own remarkable story of survival. As a foal, Buckey nearly died twice. We gave him the nickname “Buckey” because he had “Buckley’s chance” of making it. Yet through sheer grit and resilience, he pulled through — qualities we believe will make him an outstanding sire.

Buckey’s arrival was, in fact, a complete accident. We had been trying to freeze semen from his sire as a young c**t, using Saracen Sukalata as a teaser mare. She hadn’t carried a foal in years… but eleven months later, Buckey arrived. Being older, Sukalata struggled to rear him, and he faced enormous battles with joint ill and severe pneumonia — including having litres of fluid drained from his lungs. Despite months of twice-daily injections, this little c**t never once turned away. He walked up every day to be caught, a living testament to his resilience and gentle nature.

While Buckey won’t compete due to these early health challenges, we believe his greatest contribution will be as a breeding stallion. This year, Bullio Invictus will join our breeding program for the first time and, pending final registrations (yes, still need to register his sire 🤦‍♂️), he will also be available via frozen semen within Australia.

In more ways than one, we are incredibly lucky to have him.

A proud weekend for our breeding program at Thetford, UK!
We were thrilled to see a group of horses bred by us competing across the events, with some outstanding results:

🏆 1st place – 100km CEI1*
🏆 1st & 2nd place – 160km CEI3*
🥈 2nd place – 120km CEI2* (in a close finish with HH Shk Nasser)

📸 Pictured is Bullio Ozzie Jo with Hammad Al Kaabi, winners of the FEI 3*. Ozzie Jo is a pure Arabian gelding by Marcon Ios Conquero out of Bullio Shkif (Hamere Katif x Tantawanglo Shkeetar).

His pedigree is steeped in endurance history: Tantawanglo Shkeetar is a daughter of the remarkable mare Kadisha Koobee, dam of Tantawanglo Hamal Zahab (back-to-back Tom Quilty champion in 1991 & 1992). Kadisha Koobee also produced Razorback Kooee Blue, dam of the 2025 Tom Quilty winner Razorback Blue Avatar.

A similar story can be told about the dam lines of all our horses what were successful in these events. It’s inspiring to see these great dam lines continue to fortify themselves over generations.

For those interested, the the prominent dam lines in these horses were Chip Chase Carissa, Rizali and Kadisha Koobee. In my opinion 3 of the best ever in Australian endurance.
