Since the closing of Mi-Feed in Yandina, Noosa Rural Produce have now stocked a product which we are told by customers is even better than the low cost Mi-Feed horse pellets. It contains” big head” control and many other extras. Similarly the Mi-Feed chicken pellets were difficult to duplicate for price and quality although the Red Hen pellets are even better with extra protein as well.
Rearing ones own chickens for those special eggs, is becoming more and more common. 6 chickens per property are allowed by council laws. There are though other advantages by having your own chickens. The pesky lawn grubs which surface every summer are kept at bay by the fossicking of the chickens as well as evidence that the cane toad population reduces after chickens search in drains and under rocks during the day. Therefore less poisons are required which is a win for our environment.
Poisons do have their place though for customers who need to eradicate Singapore Daisy and Nutgrass and broad leaf w**ds. Glyphosate is always available to eradicate without taking prisoners.

Bronwyn won the monthly draw which Noosa Rural Produce conducts at the end of each month. Bronwyn collectes her horse pellets and was happy. Mi-Cool well priced horse pellets are no longer available since Yandina's Mi-Feed closed sadly. Noosa Rural Produce has though replaced this with a Cooloola Stockfeed Produce with similar price and quality.
No doubt w**ds will be popping up in property owners yards with spring on its way.
Noosa Rural Produce stock Glysophate, Dicamba, a nut grass killer (TEMPRA 750 WG) and Singapore daisy w**d killer ( METSULFURON METHAL) Glysophate does eradicate everything while Dicamba eradicates broad leaf growth. CK-88 is a wonderful lawn fertilizer and is always a good idea to keep in your garage ready for rain, to avoid needing to water the fertilizer in, to avoid burning. Katek (local Gympie company) produces a wonderful organic fertilizer for gardens and lawns alike and excellent for vegetable gardens and citrus. Supergrowth has all important ingredients (Zeolite, worm castings, Rock phosphate, Rock minerals, poultry manure, natural gypsum, fish meal, blood and bone, seaw**d extract, sulphate of potash and more and has been nicknamed “dynamic lifter on steroids” Kateks potting mix is also an excellent product which is hard to beat for quality and price.
Chickens (pullets) have been in very short supply although Noosa Rural Produce have a delivery locked in for October. Orders are been taken. Basically they are approx. 18 weeks old and not long from 'layer ready' Black, White, and Brown are the colours available.
