After baby Bearded Dragons hatch, the first couple of days are critical for the success of their survival.
Making their way out of the egg is an exhausting experience, so it's always a relief to see them eat their first meal.

On the menu....... Temites.
The perfect sized live food for baby Beardies.

Watching baby Bearded Dragons hatch after months of anticipation is an amazing experience.
Of the 13 eggs Spike laid as part of her second batch, 12 hatched successfully and are all doing really well.

So I mentioned the other day, that I thought Spike might be carrying eggs again due to her voluptuous stature!
Well, she's showing signs of wanting to lay and digging in her nesting tank.

You never know, might get another small clutch of eggs soon.

Some think that Bearded Dragons shouldn't be housed together, as they are 'solitary' creatures.
When they are young, they love being all over each other. My No. 2 tank which has 7 lizards in it, this is how they sleep!
Personally, I have had Beardies, that as adults, love the company of another. They dont fight and seem to actually enjoy each other's company.

It's amazing how much some lizards can change their colour from when their young to when they grow up.

This is Nekro, a 2-year-old leather back Hypo Trans - offspring from a Yellow normal scale Hypo female, and an Orange leather back Hypo male.

When he was little, he was pretty much green, but now that he's grown up, the Yellow/Orange is really dominant.

This year I have 8 Trans babies. They will grow into amazing adults.

This summer, Spike has laid 3 clutches of eggs.
The first were infertile, the second was 20 eggs which have all hatched successfully, and the third was 13 eggs of which 12 hatched successfully about a week ago.
However, she is looking quite pregnant again, so maybe a fourth batch yet to come.....

Now lets explain Translucent (aka Trans)

Trans effectively have transparent skin.

One of the biggest tells is that their belly looks blue as the transparent skin shows through the black membrane in their gut.

Another tell is they often have black eyes.

I reckon they look freaky cool, almost alien like 👽

Lets talk about the most obvious bearded dragon morph being normal scale versus leather back.

Basically a leather back has smoother skin.

A leather back will still have spikes around the head, and often down the sides, but will have notably smoother skin overall.

The different types of Bearded Dragon morphs can be a little confusing, but I'll attempt to explain a couple as they relate to mine.

Lets start with Hypomelanistic (aka Hypo)

Hypo's are basically lighter in colour to non Hypo. But the easiest wat to tell which is which, is by their nails/ claws.
Non Hypos have a dark strip in their nails, where Hypos have 'clear' nails.
