Adorable Rossi the Australian Terrier puppy came in for his first visit today.

He wasn't too sure about that blow dryer to start with, but soon realized it was just some noise, not too dissimilar to the noises he hears at his dad's worksite in construction.

Bringing puppies into the salon at an early age is the best thing to do for them to get used to the sights and sounds

Grooming will be a regular part of life, not something to be unsure of.

We are sure he is feeling much better after a bath and de-shed, although if given the chance I'm sure he would go back to mud monster status quite happily.

Lucky for Rio it's all part of the job and we are used to the big cleanup jobs with our beloved double coated dogs.

Bond and Meg the English Springer Spaniels like to do very different things while they wait to be picked up.
Meg relaxes and waits patiently, whereas Bond always goes to the toy box to choose his toy to play with for the day.
Today's choice was the fireman duck.

Bond and Meg are both groomed using traditional hand stripping methods as you would groom for the show ring.
We groom a number of gundogs breeds using the same technique.
This keeps their coats in great condition, shiny and healthy.

She took all the sights and sounds in her stride and was super well behaved for her haircut.

Handsome Pippin the Keeshond not so patiently waiting to go home after his big de-shed service today.
You wouldn't guess he ran straight in when he arrived and couldn't wait to get in to see us 🤣

He is what looks like a kilo of hair lighter now, and is feeling much lighter.

Pippin keeps on a regular schedule, like we recommend for all our double coated clients to keep their coats in the best possible condition.

Let's talk about nails!

While we recommend grooming for your pet every 6-8 weeks, some dogs need their nails clipped more often, especially if they have been let get long for a while.
Nails have a blood supply called a quick, we don't cut past this point as we don't want to make them bleed and cause them pain.
This quick grows with the nails so on overgrown nails can mean we can't always get the nails super short in one visit.

We offer a walk in nail trim service at K9 Makeovers.
You are welcome to bring your pet in anytime without an appointment between 9am and 3pm Tuesday to Saturday.
