Leptospirosis Alert in Our Community
Due to recent flooding in our area, we want to alert pet owners that two confirmed cases of leptospirosis have been reported locally (Charlestown and Bennetts Green).

What is Leptospirosis?
Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease that spreads through the urine of infected animals, often in contaminated water or soil. Pets can become infected when drinking, swimming in, or walking through floodwaters.

Leptospirosis is ZOONOTIC - meaning it can be spread from animals to humans.
Children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are especially at risk. Practicing good hygiene and avoiding contact with potentially contaminated water is essential.

Pets at Risk:
* Dogs who go outdoors
* Pets exposed to standing water or puddles
* Animals who interact with wildlife or rodents

Symptoms in Pets Can Include:
* Fever
* Vomiting or diarrhea
* Lethargy
* Loss of appetite
* Jaundice (yellowing of skin/eyes)
* Increased thirst or urination

Protect Your Family and Pets:
* Keep pets out of floodwaters
* Clean paws and fur after outdoor walks
* Ensure your dog is vaccinated — Lepto vaccines are available!
* Seek veterinary care immediately if symptoms appear

It really doesn’t get any happier that this!! Two besties having the most fun at daycare EVER! The smiles say it all. Safe and supervised daycare for your doggo - providing mental stimulation, friendly socialisation, and playtimes. Guaranteed to go home ‘happy tired’ after a day full of fun here.
