🏉LAST UPDATE FROM THE U18S COACHES🏉
Last game v Warragul.
Prior to the match team photos were taken and acknowledgement of Rae Collins and Cassie Davis in the 50th games and then they burst through the banner!
A number of upper age girls will be moving on and were playing their last match of junior football.Good luck to all those girls in their endeavours, sport or otherwise.
In their last game for the season, the girls had the big challenge of facing league leaders Warragul. With sustained pressure the girls kept up with Warragul early however they were able to score 4 goals on the first quarter. The second quarter saw the girls continue the pressure holding off Warragul for 11 minutes until they scored too late goals third quarter was a struggle and Warraguls skills were showing out, but the girls never said die and continued to pressurise.
the goals the last quarter so I have two scoring opportunities unfortunately not being able to get a major. It’s been a long and challenging season and unfortunately a lot of illness and injury has not helped the girls cause.
A lot of work is needed to get the team on the field and a huge amount of background work goes on many thanks to Tahra Thompson our team manager who does a power of work from Registrations to Weekly Team Sheet, message coordinator, page er etc.
Ash Rilen for her medical knowledge and first aid assistance/coach psychologist and various other duties.
Ellie Varsaci our runner for the season did a great job.
and the girls (&staff)loved having her on board.
Parents help has been vital with goal umpiring timekeeping and canteen work ,with everybody pitching in and doing their turn it has lightened the load.
Coaches John Murray and James Sutherland have really appreciated assistance by Daniel Farmer Wants a Wife who has taken training drills and given the girls a lot of fun and skill development.
As coaches we have endeavoured to let the girls have fun, develop their football skills and to help them become better humans and great members of the community.
The girls will be having an end of season social activity(tbc) followed by presentation event which will still be a month away due to our early finish.
