I didn’t set out to start a dog food company. I set out to stop my own dog scratching.

What I didn’t expect was how many owners I’d meet who’d done everything right, the trial, the vet derm, the expensive bag with the unpronounceable protein, and were still stuck.

The pattern kept showing up: the food had changed, but the thing the dog actually reacted to hadn’t.

That’s the bit that’s stayed with me, and it’s why I’m building this the slow way. Single protein, verified per dog, nothing hidden. I’d rather tell someone “kangaroo isn’t novel for your dog, start with venison” than sell them the wrong bag.

Here's what no one tells you about food allergies in dogs.

Fresh food is a real step up from kibble. But if your dog made the switch and is still itchy, the issue might not be how the food is made. It might be what's in it.

Most fresh dog food, cooked or raw, still runs on chicken, beef and lamb.

If those are the trigger, changing the cooking method won't do much. A protein the immune system has never encountered is a different story: no prior exposure means no immune memory, which is the whole idea behind a novel protein diet.

Why chunks? Pulverized mince passes through the digestive tract too quickly. Large chunks slow down consumption, allowing for much better nutrient absorption. Plus, the physical act of tearing and chewing provides natural dental abrasion to help keep teeth and gums clean. 🦷

Tossing a whole broccoli floret into your dog's bowl won't work. Dogs lack the enzyme cellulase required to break down tough plant walls, and their teeth can't grind vegetation.

"So, why not just cook it?"
Because heat destroys Myrosinase, the exact enzyme needed to trigger Sulforaphane (the miracle compound responsible for your dog's cellular longevity). Cooking the broccoli makes it digestible, but kills the magic.
