On Friday, Natalie was good enough to let me gate crash her show jump lesson with Rebel out at FTP.
I opted to take Diesel. I haven’t been doing much with Hercules lately & I just wanted to ride someone steady.

Of course he went well & being the magnificent old man that he is, even Rebel decided she needed to jump on!

Diesel was once a show jumper, but I never really jumped him much as, around 7 years ago, he got kicked in the right front leg by another horse & 2/3rds of his tendon was sliced out, which was a 14 month recovery. So, I just never really jumped him.

Here he is strutting his stuff with an epic rider!

Rhythm
Regularity
Relaxation

We need to always be riding for those 3 key things.

Out at Rosewood this morning teaching Miss Izzy who started at the Manor & has been barrel racing with her own horses.
Today we were working on Sizzle learning to establish a trot rhythm so we can start getting her more relaxed.
Sizzle by name, Sizzle by nature!

When creating feed plans, always, always weigh your feeds.

This same scoop for pellets = 1.3kg

It’s not quite 1kg for this mixed grain

For chaff, it’s roughly 350g (I didn’t tare it)

So many people respond with, oh a scoop of this, or a scoop of that.

To do an actual analysis & to know what your horse is getting, you need to weigh your scoops.

I am currently in Stanthorpe with the boys having a break before the final leg home.

Glen Innes Celtic Festival was AWESOME!!! And…. FREEZING 🥶 🥶

I ended up jousting in all 4 jousts…. No, I wasn’t initially going to do that…
Diesel was a saint & did his job perfectly.

Hercules came along & I didn’t get to do as as I had anticipated, but he STILL thinks that I am a terrifying monster in my armour…. Lol
The trip was good exposure for him.

I don’t have any actual footage of the jousting yet.

5 years. FIVE YEARS ago was the last time I jousted…. And my muscles are reminding me that it was 5 years ago…..

Thank you Amanda for being an awesome target for me! Lol

5 years since I last jousted. FIVE YEARS! I felt a bit messy, a little bit disorganised. But, all in all, it wasn’t terrible given the length of time & NO real practice.

Whether I joust or not at Glen Innes will just depend on the weekend, there’s enough jousters, just short of horses which is why Diesel & I are going. Hercules will come along for the exposure too. He was there today, but needs a lot more armour desensitisation.

Was a GREAT DAY today!

Well, lessons are cancelled tomorrow.

It’s been an incredibly frustrating season. I have been in Brisbane for 22 years & I don’t ever recall having had such a continuously long wet season.

Hercs, your face mirrors mine!

I attempted some joust training with Diesel yesterday (first time back in my armour in 5 years) but the ground was pretty wet.

We did have a rainbow this afternoon though!
