I thought this teeny glimpse of movement differences between Lucy and Rumi at the park is super interesting because;
First off, you'll notice that puppy Rumi is keeping up with Lucy who is an adult.
But secondly, you'll notice that Lucy is *galloping* but Rumi is in a trot.
Whilst Lucy is a beautiful dog in her own right, there is no denying that Rumi is put together far better. This is classic evidence of such a thing.
Rumi at 7 1/2 months can maintain speed and position in a highly efficient trot, with an adult who is galloping to maintain the same speed.
This is what breeders mean when they say "form follows function", and why breeding correct structure and to standard dogs is so important.
This doesn't mean Lucy is poorly bred by any means. She is simply my first generation, where as Rumi is approximately the 6th generation of my mentors breeding. ❤️
While I am starting out my journey and improving the dog before me, my mentor has been on her journey for far longer and is much further ahead 😁
