Behind the scenes, we’re doing everything we can to help with bird flu. Dr Jayne has been collaborating closely with Parks and Wildlife to get some of our precious Little Penguins vaccinated on Barunguba Montague Island.

⚠️Paralysis Tick Hotspot⚠️

Just a reminder coming into the long weekend - make sure your pet is up to date with reliable, vet-recommended tick protection.

Our recommendations are Bravecto and NexGard, which we have available at the clinic. We are open this afternoon and tomorrow morning, 9-12:30 - then we are closed until Tuesday for the long weekend.

Daily tick searches are still an important part of tick prevention, even when your pet is protected.

We’ve had a large number of paralysis tick cases this week, and these three ticks are among some of the ticks that have been removed from cats and dogs this week.

If you find a live paralysis tick, remove it carefully, place it in a sealed bag and contact your vet straight away for urgent advice.

Tick paralysis is an emergency and can be fatal even with treatment, which is why prevention and early action are so important.

Have you ever seen an echidna train? Feel free to share your photos in the comments!

This echidna was found near the road by a kind member of the public and brought in for treatment 🧡

At this time of year, you may spot what’s known as an echidna train-a female echidna being followed in a line by several males during breeding season. As they’re more active and travelling together, there is an increased risk of them being hit by cars, so please take a little extra care on the roads.
