☀️ Summer Heat + Short Snouts = Serious Risk ☀️

As temperatures rise, so does the danger of heatstroke for our furry friends, ESPECIALLY brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boxers.

🔴 Dogs don’t sweat like we do. They cool off by panting and through their nasal cavities. But not all noses are created equal!

📊 As this graphic shows, dogs like German Shepherds have a much larger nasal cavity devoted to cooling their bodies, while flat-faced breeds have much less space to regulate their temperature, which makes them far more prone to overheating.

💔 For brachycephalic breeds, just a short walk in the sun or a few minutes in a hot car can be deadly.

🔥 Heat Safety Tips:
✅ Always provide fresh water and shade.
✅ Avoid walks during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Never leave your dog in a parked car.
✅ Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, lethargy, or collapse.
✅ Know your breed's limits — some can't safely handle heat at all.

Snakes are active now, just in our area at least 6 dogs have been rushed to PET ER. Seek veterinary attention immediately.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, why do snake catchers exist? Why aren’t all snakes killed? Aren’t snakes pests? THIS POST IS FOR YOU! 🐍

In Australia, our snakes are native and protected, this is because they play a vital role in the ecosystem. They control pest population, contribute to nutrient cycling, serve as a food source for many other animals, and play a huge role in cultural significance.

Due to an influx in development, many more snakes are showing up in suburbia because of the lack of bushland that they were originally in. Because of this, the role of snake catching exists. Hundreds of snake catchers all around Australia devote 24/7 365 days of their time to rescuing and relocating snakes to ensure the species thrives. It is not only a full-time job, but a passion too.

Believe it or not, snakes are not pests. The definition of a pest is something that causes damage, spreads disease, and is a nuisance to livestock or humans…. snakes are none of that! The only way in which a snake will bite is if it is either provoked, or protecting itself from a perceived threat. Other than that, snakes try their best to stay away from us, why would they want anything to do with something 10x their size?!

If you have the time, have a scroll through our page, you might learn something and see a new perspective on snakes! Education is key 🔑
