And that’s a wrap. The last orders have been packed & are awaiting the courier pick up.
Thank you to each & every one of you who supported me in some way. I loved so much growing & running Beaky Things. A special thank you goes out to those who have reached out to me over the past fortnight with their well wishes. I truly had no idea how much my little business meant to many of you.

All Good Things Must Come To An End Eventually...
After much thought, I have made the terribly hard decision to wind up Beaky Things. I realise this will come as a shock to many of you & I want you to know that whilst this is a sad announcement, the last decade has been incredible for me for many reasons.

I started Beaky Things after I adopted my first parrot, & we know it never ends at just one! Very shortly thereafter Beaky Things was born. It was never my intention to start my business, it just happened in my quest to locate high quality, safe toys for my own flock.

Over the last 10yrs, Beaky Things grew steadily, survived a pandemic and many other hurdles & challenges along the way that comes with owning a small business. What stands out to me most, was you. I have a large number of loyal customers who have been buying toys from me since day one. I have enjoyed the chats, photos of your birds unboxing their toys & the satisfaction I had knowing I was getting safe toys out there to fellow bird parents.

As some of you are aware I am also a Vet Nurse, and own my own practice. As an owner of a rapidly growing clinic, my time to dedicate to Beaky Things has diminished. One thing I am incredibly proud of is the personalised & high standard of customer care I provide. With less & less time available each day it is getting harder to put in what I think is necessary to operate a successful & high standard business, & it is with that I have had to come to the realisation I just cannot do both.

So what is the plan from here? Well Beaky Things will remain open for a period of 6 weeks from now (ie until Mid June), unless I sell out of everything sooner. I have marked down all products to aid your stocking up of your favourites. Don’t forget that I offer free shipping of orders over $150, so don’t be shy to fill up your shopping cart!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to you all, whether you have purchased from me once or fifty times, online or in person. Each & everyone one of you is appreciated. If I can ask one thing, it’s to continue to support other small businesses like myself in any way you can

As a small business myself, I think it’s important to recognise & support other small businesses out there doing great things. Recently here at Beaky Things HQ I installed a new aviary, where I test drive my toys in real life scenarios & take my product photography so you can see how toys look & work in real life. This beautiful aviary was purchased from Royal Rooster located down in SA, which was shipped up to me in QLD flat pack style. It’s an Avian Palace Small Extension for those wanting to know exactly which one. I got the stainless upgrade with black wire & grey panelling. The walls & roof with the insulated panel upgrade to help with sound reduction for the neighbours & the hot summer sun. Safety entry cage too of course. I am stoked with how this turned out & the quality of the product & customer service from the team at Royal Rooster was 5 stars.

This is a one of a kind patio aviary owned by myself as my former outdoor day aviary for my Alexandrines. I had it custom made a couple of years ago & now am reluctantly moving it on.

This aviary is constructed from 100% 316 stainless & was handmade to my design by a professional stainless steel tradesman. I spared no expense in this design & build. It’s made to withhold the strongest of beaks whilst being constructed in a way it can house safely smaller species also. All whilst keeping safety in mind.

Mesh 3mm thick x 2.5cm aperture (suitable for smaller birds whilst being a large enough mesh thickness to withstand very large strong beaks). The floor is the same mesh, perfect for placing onto any surface!

Solid pest protection wall at base 70cm tall

This cage, as you can imagine given its size & quality build / material, is heavy. But it can be loaded & transported on a Ute. You’ll need 2-3 people to do it. It is located in Narangba (Brisbane).
