Training that finally feels good to you and your horse AND makes sense! Professional and compassionate, at Cadence Horse Training we are committed to providing the very best in customer (and equine!) service. We invest the time needed into each horse and carefully monitor progress while also providing valuable

human interaction through grooming, massage and handling. Our unique Engageβ„’ Training Program is a fusion of horsemanship, science based theory, biomechanics, straightness and classical training with a strong focus on regulation, balance and body control, this builds security and self confidence and equips the horse to achieve tasks asked of them, reduces the incidence of vices on the ground and under saddle and harbours a relationship based on trust between human and horse. All training programs begin on the ground and encourage body confidence and awareness, balance and straightness, while improving and correcting muscle tone to enable self-carriage. This promote willingness, soundness and longevity, aids a fluid transition to ridden training and consistently produces mentally and physically engaged equine partners, across a variety of ages, breeds and participating in a variety of disciplines.

No one learns well when they’re stressed or fatigued.

During the slow work is where problem solving, processing and confidence building happen.

As each tiny piece of training becomes consolidated we can begin to combine them, build resilience and expand comfort zones.

This weekend was a special one…

I ran an exclusive 2-day immersive clinic for my Engaged Equines Brand Ambassadors. And I have to say, my cup is well and truly full!

Not one of these horses or humans is the same as those of the start of the year, when I say they’re dedicated I mean they are putting in the hours, hard yards and maximum effort… and it shows.

More to come on what we worked on and what they discovered! πŸ€— for now enjoy watching their pretty ponies prance 🐎

𝐈 𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐄 π“πŽ 𝐁𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 πŽππ„ π“πŽ 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋 π˜πŽπ” 𝐁𝐔𝐓…

You’re probably working too hard.

That might look like,

You stop riding, your horse stops going
You let reins out, your horse runs forward
Your horse drops in, if you don’t hold the shoulders up

A horse who is balanced, strong and able to travel in self carriage is easy to ride.

Instead of driving, pushing, pulling and holding, your job becomes simply to set up, allow and encourage - AND enjoy!!

By actually teaching your horse how to carry themselves and how to regulate both body and mind it allows you to concentrate on yourself rather than constantly fixing, blocking and off balancing them.

If you want to work smarter not harder get to work on:

β˜‘οΈ Self regulation, for calm confidence
β˜‘οΈModifying movement patterns, for symmetry and body awareness
β˜‘οΈ A healthy balance of mobility and stability
β˜‘οΈ Our balance and strength on and off the horse

Stay tuned and let me know if you’d like to get on the waitlist for one of my upcoming clinics by dropping a πŸ¦„ in the comments, winter/spring schedule on the way!

Remember what you came for … don’t dim your flame πŸ”₯

Another successful outing for Brand Ambassadors Brooke & Clyde πŸ‘

And a reminder to you, define what success looks like to you and keep your flame alive!

Did they look gorgeous today? Absolutely!
Was it a successful day? Depends who you ask!

The biggest things that inspires me about this pair is that they are ALWAYS giving it a crack. They have not had much exposure with their very first couple of outings last year, the last couple of months are their first outings this year so the grand total is small.

The first outings were challenging to say the least as Brooke got back out into the competition arena for the first time since having 3 … yes 3 babies! Combined with a willing but green young horse.

Let’s just say nerves were high on both counts, but Brooke didn’t let that dim her spark, instead she chalked it up as a success for getting out there in front of everyone and used it as motivation to keep working and improving.

This years outings look totally different - so although every test and workout might not yet look perfect on the outside, the calm, willing partner she’s created and the smile that he lights up her face with are absolutely inspiring.

She’s now fully fired up to keep going and I can’t wait to see the next stage!! πŸ”₯

Get out there and enjoy your horses people!!! 🐴 We’ll see you out there!!

🧑 Work hard in silence
…let success be your noise 🧑

β€œSometimes success is slow
Sometimes success is considerate
Sometimes success is measured
Sometimes success is tactful
Sometimes success is small
Sometimes success is quiet
Sometimes success bides its time
Sometimes success is surprising
Sometimes success is inspiring
Sometimes success is humble

Sometimes success isn’t in ribbons, not measured by big or small and judged only by your horse and that quiet voice inside that whispers β€˜just keep going, we’ll get there’.”

Taking the long road can seem tedious, can be criticised, can be judged and sometimes feel fruitless, it might seem less profound peaks but it will also see less dramatic dips.

Small improvements may creep by unnoticed, but your most important critic will thank you.

For not forcing, not pushing through and not making do.

For listening, for caring and for being empathetic, your horse will be more forgiving, more trusting and more willing.
