30th of November is National Heritage Brumby Day.
The brumbies & their human remember their kin on the Bogong Highplains, Victoria who have been eradicated from their part of the Alpine National Park.
“Today I join in respecting the first National Heritage Brumby Day. On the 30th of November each year, we will recognise the cultural and historical significance of our Snowy brumbies and other brumby populations including the Guy Fawkes Heritage horses. We will celebrate the uniqueness of the breed, and their shared ancestry with the Light Horses that served in World War, as descendants of the horses who helped shape our country 200 years ago. This year we also remember and mourn the 7,000 heritage brumby foals, mares and stallions slaughtered by the NSW Government under their aerial culling program” ~ Australian Brumby Alliance
